If you’re looking to save money every month, you need to have a plan. If you’re just starting to save, or looking to save more money each month, it’s important to know what your goals are and how you plan to reach them.
Saving Money Every Month
Saving money is not a passive process. While it can be sometimes (like if you set up automatic deposits), it is still overall something that you need to take action to achieve. You make a choice when you decide not to spend money and to save it instead.
Here are ways to save money every month:
1. AUTOMATE YOUR SAVINGS
As mentioned above, once you do this you don’t have to worry about it anymore. You need to take action the first time to set it all up, but then you will continue saving your money every time without forgetting.
2. USE CASH BACK AND REWARD CARDS
It just makes sense to use reward cards and gain cash back on spending you’re going to have to do anyway. Why not get a little bonus or earn some rewards when you’re buying food, household items, or even paying bills?
3. USE CASH BACK AND COUPON APPS
Another way to save money every month is to use coupons and savings apps. There are apps that give you coupons, cash back, and other specials savings you cannot get anywhere else. According to a study, 43% of shoppers find coupons on mobile apps.
These apps will really save you a bundle and many people do not take advantage of them. You can use your smartphone or iPhone to download money saving, coupon, and cash back apps. Then, shop how you normally would but save even more.
4. TRACK YOUR SPENDING HABITS
It’s important to know where your money is going – really going – not just where you think it’s going. Track your spending and investing over time and look for ways to reduce it where you can.
5. REDUCE YOUR DEBT
Some debts are going to be necessary at certain points in your life. However, there are things you can do to help reduce your debt.
6. Create your savings goals
Know how much you’re trying to save and what you are saving for. You also need to set a deadline to reach your goals. Timelines are very important to help you remain on track with your savings goals.
7. Take a portion of your paycheck for savings
Whether you get paid weekly, twice a month, or once a month, you need to take a portion of your wages and apply them to your savings account. If possible, set it up to do this automatically.
8. Boost your monthly savings with extra cash
You can also find ways to make extra cash such as by selling off junk you no longer need, or picking up a part time job and then put all of this extra cash into your savings.
9. Cut back on expenses
You can also save more every month if you cut back on your expenses and look for ways to lower your existing bills. Can you cut back your cable service? Are there subscriptions you don’t really need?
With these money saving tips, you can begin saving more money every month. Whether you’re already saving and just looking to increase those savings, or if you are just starting your savings, you can use these tips to boost your savings account this month and every month after.
5 Non-Traditional Discipline Tips that Really Work
Many families today find that traditional discipline tips don’t work for them. This is when thinking outside the box can go a long way toward finding a method that works for your family’s needs.
Here are some ideas that you might want to consider.
Woman communicating with a girl.
1.Learn to communicate well
Communicating well with your children about discipline and what you expect from them is very important. Some parents also decide to let their children help them create responsibility and consequence lists so the child plays a direct role in deciding what their discipline will be.
2.Stay consistent
It’s also very important that you remain consistent. Some will say this consistency is even more important than the discipline you choose. Your children need to know what they can expect from you and for their behaviours and actions.
3.Fit the punishment to the crime
Some parents like to choose discipline that fits the mistake the child has committed. For example, instead of a time out or taking away privileges, they will do something directly related to what they did wrong. If they broke something that belongs to someone else, they fix it or work off the cost to replace it.

4.Give choices
Giving your child choices in life makes them feel like they have more power. Instead of saying, “Eat your veggies!” You might say, “Do you want carrots or broccoli?” This still results in your child having vegetables but it puts the power in their hands.
5.Model good behaviour
This isn’t really a non-traditional concept as all parents should be modeling good behaviour for their children, but when considered as a form of discipline, it might not be the status quo. That said, this is a great way to set the stage for what you expect from your children.
5 Non-Traditional Discipline Tips that Really Work
Do you have any non-traditional discipline tips you would like to share? Comment below!
To discipline their children, parents have started to implement what’s known as the “time out method”. This type of discipline involves a chair, a corner or some quiet space where a child will remain for a few minutes, usually one minute per age, quietly to think about their actions. The problem is that many parents are starting to see that the time out doesn’t work. You will find below 4 Positive Tips to Make Time Out Work for Kids!
Positive Tips to Make Time Out Work for Kids
Girl looking at a clock.
The reality of this idea that the time out method doesn’t work may be caused due to mistakes parents are making in the process of implementing said time out strategy. Today, I will share some positive tips to make time outs work for your kids, so that you won’t get so overwhelmed with implementing the time out method.
1. Do Not Speak to Your Kid
The number one rule you must follow is that you cannot speak to your kid when they are in a time out. The purpose of the time out as a discipline strategy is that your kid sits for a few minutes in silence. When you engage your kid, you’re only lessening the time they have in that time out to sit quietly and think about their actions.
Many parents engage the kid after placing the kid in time out because they want them to stop screaming in protest against the time out. Sadly, kids are smart and if they know they can get your attention, they will get it. Learn to not engage your kid at all while in a time out.
2. Do Not Overuse the Time Out
Your kids will kick and scream and be angry most of the time when they are placed in a time out. It’s completely natural for them to be made. Let’s face it, your kid probably spends more time thinking about how mean you are as a parent then what they did to have them placed there in the first place.
It’s after the time out that you can really help converse about the bad choice that led to a time out. Consider only using the time out method for extreme circumstances where the kid truly needs to pause for a few minutes, only then will it help inspire a productive conversation afterward to teach a lesson.

3. Use When and then Statements
There will be times when your kid whines about using an electronic device, not wanting what’s for dinner or similar scenarios. The time out method doesn’t work well for a kid who is simply whining about something they don’t like or something that they want. Instead of immediately jumping to time out, try to use the when and then statements with your kid. When you take a bite of what’s for dinner, then we can talk about if you like it or not. When you complete this task, then you can have some play time. Those type of when and then statements help your kid put together the bigger picture.
4. Make it Boring
Lastly, if you must use the time out method, as most parents do from time to time, be sure that it’s a boring experience. There should be zero distractions, no engagement, and a timer set so that they know when the time is up. Be sure the time out location is in an area free of sibling interaction or televisions, to ensure your kid is completely bored and somewhat forced to think about their actions. Once the timer is up, tell your kid the time out is over, sit to see if they know what bad decision they had made, discuss it and move on.
Positive Tips to Make Time Out Work for Kids
If you follow these positive tips to make time outs work for kids, which also means not overusing them, you will soon find within about two weeks that your kid responds better to time outs and perhaps has more positive behaviors so that the time out is used less and less over time.

Let the back to school learning begin! Kids are now in the back to school groove at this time of year and finding a bit of fun to enjoy it can be hard. DK Canada wants to help break up the ho-humness of going back to school with books that bring fun to learning! They asked my family if they could send us a few titles that would add smiles to our faces. We were excited to see how much fun we would have with these books!
Back to School Learning Fun with DK Canada
Below are the three books we received to have back to school fun at home:
My kids are great storytellers. Their imaginations come to life when they share the stories they have in their minds. How to Be a Coder makes learning code for kids easier to understand by breaking it down into smaller pieces. This allows them to take in what they are learning better. Different activities are featured to make certain aspects of coding relatable to users such as how functions work by using paper fortune tellers. Kids can then take this knowledge to build programs in Scratch 3.0.
How to Be a Coder book cover.
The “Abstraction Story” section of this book helps young coders to see the big picture, then to break it down to create the basics of the program and to add details later. The instructions were so great for them to follow. They really liked seeing how to break down a story the way they are asked to by using the pictures in the comic strip. They had a blast trying this method to help them put together a fun coding program!
Finding answers through questions
Kids have so many questions about the world. We encourage them to fins some of the answers in some of the books we have around our home. Sometimes, They are not able to find the answers they are seeking.
Smithsonian The New Children’sEncyclopedia is filled with amazing facts for kids to discover through maps, diagrams, beautiful images, charts, and timelines. This title helps young readers add to their knowledge on various topics such as math, history, geography, science, politics and more!

Insects are a subject of fascination for my kids. They love watching them in our backyard while they live their lives. Both of my kids have so many questions about insects and want to know more about these animals. This title shares a lot of details about our outdoor neighbours. My kids love looking at their body parts, how their mouths vary, and the differences between a bee and a wasp. Both of my kids kept pointing and reading this part of the book. They were in awe with it and pick it up to read as much as they can.

Learning in a twisted way
Learning should be fun. Adding interesting ways to get the information across to kids is a good way to do it. One Million Things makes learning interesting by presenting them with a twist. Each topic this book tackles shares images that are sure not to bore young readers. This reference book covers subjects such as nature, science, history, the human body, technology and more.

Hands down, “Body Systems” is one of our favourite sections of this book. Not only does it lay out the major organs that make our body work, the twist is how it is presented. Each part is depicted as knitted versions of themselves. It makes seeing each of these parts less jarring and more fun to young learners. We also love how each part is described in a simple way for kids to understand well.

Having fun learning
My family had a lot of fun learning while reading with books from DK Canada. My daughter loved crafting while learning the basics of coding with How to Be a Coder. Even my kids enjoyed finding answers to the questions they have with Smithsonian The New Children’s Encyclopedia. We have a lot of fun learning with a twist with One Million Things. 3. Tips For Driving to Disney World
Those who plan to drive to Walt Disney World with small children should ensure that the vehicle is in good working order to avoid being one of the many vehicles that overheats or breaks down on the side of the road headed to the Magical Kingdom. Important basic items to inspect include:
Oil and filter
Tires, spare tire, supplies for changing tire
Windshield wipers (expect thunderstorms while traveling)
Radiator and hoses
Battery
Fluid levels.
Those who plan to fly to Disney World with reservations at a WDW Resort should carefully read the procedure related to check-in. Many resorts offer free services for delivering luggage directly to the resort room, but there is usually a three- to four-hour wait time before the bags may arrive. It is helpful to have a carry-on with essentials so that the fun can start upon arrival to the hotel.
Plan ahead to fight boredom while traveling. Sitting in a plane or a vehicle for hours can be quite difficult for small children and adults. When driving, plan for frequent stops in order to get out of the vehicle and stretch. Also when driving or flying bring a variety of fun activities to pass the time, such as:
Books and books on CD
Videos and movies
Music on CD, iPod, cellphone, iPad
Travel games, particularly ones that are favourites or new
Flash cards that are age-appropriate
Incentives for good behaviour while traveling
4. How to Spend Less Time Waiting to Get Into Disney World
Although many might wish that time would stand still so that the family may enjoy everything at all of Disney’s theme parks, reality dictates that much time can be spent standing in line. Planning a vacation during less crowded times of the year is ideal, but many must plan a vacation around school and work schedules.
Those who plan to park at Disney’s Magic Kingdom can expect to take a while to get into the park, even when traveling from a resort inside of WDW. The parking area is large and visitors must then board a ferry boat or monorail to get to the front gate at the Magic Kingdom. Bags must be checked before entry. It helps to pre-purchase tickets before arrival to the park to avoid waiting in yet another line.
Those who plan to utilize a shuttle bus or other complimentary transportation provided by the hotel or resort may find that the ride may take longer than expected. During peak times, guests may have to wait for the next shuttle to arrive.
5. How to Save Time Waiting and More Time Enjoying Disney World Attractions
Crowds and lines abound in Disney World, and it helps to have a clear plan for the day, with room for adjustments as needed. Children may be frightened by some activities at WDW. Sometimes cast members may be able to give some inside advice. For example, guests may find it helpful to see the Animal Kingdom parade from certain locations during the second pass.
Arriving before the gates open can help families to enjoy shorter wait times early in the day in addition to having the opportunity to enjoy the opening gate ceremony. Ride lines are often shorter during parades or the fireworks and often peak during early to mid afternoon. Single Rider lines offer shorter wait times as well.
Guests of the WDW resorts may take advantage of Extra Magic Hours in which only those resort guests may enjoy the rides during certain times. It is helpful to know the schedule for the Extra Magic Hours because the schedule rotates from park to park and from morning to evening, and some shows and rides may only be available during regular hours.
The other way to spend less time in line is to purchase the Disney Genie+ service. In addition to getting all of the great features that come with the complimentary Disney Genie service, the Disney Genie+ service will offer even more convenience and flexibility, for $15 plus tax (USD) per ticket per day.
DISNEY GENIE+ LIGHTNING LANE ENTRANCES
As per the Disney World website “This new service, offered at more than 40 attractions and experiences throughout Walt Disney World theme parks, lets you select the next available arrival window for Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane experiences! You may make one selection at a time, starting at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit (experiences are subject to limited availability). If your theme park ticket includes the Park Hopper option, you can select Lightning Lane arrival windows across multiple theme parks.”
7. Rider Switch
Rider Switch can help families with children of different ages. If a ride has height restrictions, check with a Cast Member regarding how to utilize the rider switch program. This will enable one parent to stay with a child or children who will not be riding while the other parent rides with the other child or children. Then the adults switch, and the kids ride again with the other parent while avoiding waiting in the main line again. The Rider Switch program can be combined with FastPass+.
8. Forget The First-aid Kit
Packing for a vacation can be tricky. Obviously, it’s important to bring along anything you might need in case of an emergency, even when packing space is limited. At Walt Disney World, you don’t have to worry about many of the things you need to supply when vacationing elsewhere. Guest service stations throughout the park are happy to supply you with various first aid or hygienic needs. This includes Aspirin, bandages, tissues, hand sanitizer, and much more. So, leave the first-aid kit at home and simply concentrate on any prescription medications your family members need.
9. Tips For Visiting Magic Kingdom
Disney is a wonderful, magical place. It’s also super popular and often overcrowded, especially during the popular months. If you really want to make your trip one to remember, it pays to plan things out strategically. This is very true when it comes to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. You could spend an entire day at Magic Kingdom and still not do it all.
So, if you’re wanting to get the most from your trip, here are some strategic tips to help you along the way:
Skip some of the less popular attractions and shows:It’s just not possible to see everything in one go. You can skip the ones that aren’t as popular to you and your group.
Get up early: You need to wake early and get to the park as it is opening. Then you can check out the early morning attractions first, like Fantasyland.
More Attractions: After lunch, you can head for more attractions and if you plan your map order, you can take things in order so you’re not wasting time walking here and there, but instead, you’re getting the most time at attractions and shows.
With these Disney World first time visitors tips, you can plan your strategy for Disney’s Magic Kingdom, so you have the best chance of seeing and doing the most things during this visit.
10. Tips For Visiting Epcot
Epcot is a huge park and there is so much to see and do, it can be hard to fit it in one trip. If you can manage two days for seeing it all, then that is ideal. If you want to know how to visit Epcot in one day and get as much in as you can, here are some helpful tips.
Plan your path: You also want to research in advance to know what rides and attractions are available and which are the most popular. You can plan the ones you want to see the most, and then plan the order in which to see them so you can have time to get to most of them, or at least the most important ones on your list.
Go to World Showcase later in the day: It opens 2 hours after Future World opens. This helps you get to all the things you want to see and get as much into one day as possible. Choosing your order is important to getting more in.
Arrive before opening: The early bird gets the worm – and all the great attractions. It can pay off to arrive early, before the park actually opens.
Stay late: If you can stay at the park late in the evening, there will be more to see and experience at Epcot even after the sun goes down. Plan accordingly, eat well, and enjoy a long day at Epcot.
Walt Disney World’s Monorail System.
11. My Disney Experience App
If you’re planning a Disney trip, one thing you’ll want to do is download the My Disney Experience app. This will help you make the most of your trip and take your family to see as many things as possible while on the trip.
Here are some ways you can use the My Disney Experience app to make your trip to Disney better:
Use it to plan ahead and organize your trip before you go. You can use it to book your hotel, check up on parking hours, reserve dining, choose FastPass+ experiences and more.
You can use the shortcuts in the app to help you pre-plan your family vacation by mapping out an idea of the places you want to go, things you want to see and do, and where you will want to eat. The app shows you wait times, popular and Spotlight attractions and more. You should always leave some wiggle room in your plan in case things change, but this allows you to create a solid game plan right from the app before you even go.
It also lets you use your phone as a map. Once there, you can navigate the entire park from your phone. The app opens to the park map, so you can find whatever you need and the app can help you go to attractions in the right order so you’re not wasting time just walking back and forth to places.
You can use it to pre-schedule your ride times with FastPasses, and you can use it to check on wait times for shows and attractions. It’s GPS-enabled so you can see everything in real time and there’s no need for a paper map anymore.
The app helps you discover special events, too. Sometimes Disney has special theme days or events happening when you’re visiting that may not be on the regular schedule. The app will tell you about these special events, so you don’t miss out on anything.
You can also find the professional photos that are taken at Disney events from the app. You can even purchase photos from your phone with the app.
The app also has special games and activities for children. It can be a good way to keep them busy while waiting in lines.
Look at the weather reports to get an idea of the averages for the month you are going. In Orlando, the winter months are very varied. You can have one day that is pretty cold by many people’s standards and would require layers or a heavier jacket. On other days, it might seem like a summer day to some. Think about what you like to wear during those temperatures and bring that.
The best thing to do is to bring a variety of clothing for your Walt Disney World trip. Also think about the times you will be at the Disney parks. If you will be out after dark, then the temperature can drop significantly. Cold fronts come in quick and can change the weather by ten or twenty degrees in a single day.
One great idea is to bring a lot of layers on your Walt Disney World trip. You can even wear shorts under your pants or bring them so you can change. You might want to wear a short sleeve shirt, but then bring a jacket to wear over it. The parks have lockers that you can rent so, if you do not want to carry around the extra clothing, you can also store it there.
13. Don’t Expect To Try Everything
During a day visit to a typical theme park, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect to ride every ride and see every attraction. However, with everything Walt Disney World has to offer guests, this is no easy feat. You need to wake early and get to the park as it is opening. Then you can check out the early morning attractions first, like Fantasyland. Skip some of the less popular attractions and shows.
Even when you’re visiting for several days, keeping up the pace and trying everything can be exhausting. Just remember that you’re on vacation, so it’s best to relax and get to what you can comfortably. If you’re able to see everything you want to, that’s great. If not, there’s always next time.
14. How Not To Lose A Child At Disney
Unfortunately, one of the most frequent times that people may lose a child is upon entry into the park. Many people are awed by the sight of the theme park, and children can easily wander out of sight. Families with young children visiting WDW should have a clear plan about how to keep from losing a child at Disney World and should discuss that plan several times throughout the day.
It is very important that you have physical contact with your child in every circumstance. This is especially true for younger children. If you have an infant or extremely young child you have the advantage of a stroller. This will keep your child locked into one location where they cannot move without you being part of the moving process. Some parents use toddler leashes once the child has learned to walk. The problem with this is that they can come loose and lead to separation from your child.
Regardless of the Disney parks, it is imperative that you maintain physical and visual contact with your child at all times. Younger children should have their hands held, especially in situations where there are buses, vehicles, and other dangerous objects that could hurt the child. It requires that your child respects your authority and does not try to go off on their own journey when at Disney World.
If your child is also of age to use a telephone, you have the option of getting them a prepaid cell phone. This should only be used in emergency situations of separation. This provides your child with some degree of independence, while still making sure that you have contact should they get into an uncomfortable situation that they cannot handle. If they become physically separated from you, they have the option of calling you and choosing to meet you at a predetermined location at Disney.
It is important that your child knows basic information about themselves. You should include in this information, their parent’s cell phone numbers, home address, hotel they are staying in, and the complete name of both of their parents. If they cannot remember this information, they should always carry it on their person at all times. This is the best way to protect your child in unfamiliar surroundings at Walt Disney World.
These are just a few (of many) tips for Disney World first timers to keep in mind, before you spend time with Mickey, Minnie, and all their pals! After you get one Disney trip under your belt, the next visit will be even more magical! Before you know it, you’ll be a seasoned guest with enough experience to dole out advice of your own!

Halloween can be so sweet with all of the treats and candy that floats around, that it can be almost a little scary. Especially if you are watching what you eat! This year, have no fear of the goodies! I have the perfect witches hat for halloween for you, that is delicious, healthy and festive too! This Frozen Pumpkin Yogurt Recipe is ideal to make Halloween witch hats or pumpkin treats. These homemade frozen yogurt bites are easy to make, and will cool you off after a few loops around the neighbourhood while you oversee trick or treating with the kids.
Made with pumpkin and vanilla yogurt, these diy frozen yogurt bites are so delicious that you might not have any fear of missing out when it comes to the assortment of Halloween candy you are inevitably going to be subjected to.
Pumpkin spice frozen yogurt recipe
These Halloween witch hat snacks are sweet, but it only has one added spoon of sugar! The hint of cinnamon compliments the pumpkin perfectly while the yogurt is kind of like the icing on the cake, so to speak, because it brings the flavours together with just the right amount of sweetness.
Recipe for pumpkin frozen yogurt
For this best frozen treat, you will need to use molds to shape your homemade pumpkin frozen yogurt. I recommend using a witch hat silicone mold because these frozen yogurt bites are so much easier to remove from a silicone mold than they are from a hard plastic one. With a silicone mold, you will have less breakage as you are ready to serve these.
Step 1: Add pumpkin puree to a bowl. Add in sugar and cinnamon. Stir well. Pour in half way with vanilla yogurt.
Step 2: The drop a half of a teaspoon full of pumpkin into each hat. You may swirl it with a toothpick.
Step 3: Freeze for 3 hours until solid.
Step 4: Serve cold for a nice seasonal snack!

Traveling with family can be tiresome, monotonous, and stressful. Placing a hand held electronic game into a child’s hands is one way of relieving some of these problems, but it’s not very ‘family friendly’. With society today offering less family time together by pushing gadget oriented entertainment towards kids, and the cost of living forcing most parents to work longer hours, we need to take as many opportunities as possible to interact as a family. That’s why having travel games for car trips are a must!
Travel Games For Car Trips
Family with three children (aged 5-11) in car interior.
A road trip is one of the ultimate ways of doing this. With everyone literally forced to stay together in the car, you have the perfect opportunity to bond and re-unite with some old fashioned car games. And while some might moan and groan at the mention of them, when they actually do start joining in (and they will, because what else is there for them to do after all?) you’ll find everyone enjoying the time they are spending together! And the added bonus? You will be learning about each other and the places you are going on the way! So, here are a few games to start you off!
I spy
Yes it’s old, but for young kids it’s a classic that they love. For anyone that may not have played this as a child, here’s how it works! Someone starts by picking an object everyone can see in the car. Then they say ‘I spy with my little eye, something that is’ . . . and here they will insert the color of the object. Everyone takes turning guessing the thing that it is until someone gets it right and then it’s their turn.
Sing-a-Song
Girl singing in a car
You can take this literally and sing whatever songs you like – whether it be popular music of today or camp songs – or you can twist it up a bit and do your own thing. Choose a popular tune to any song and have everyone make up a line as you go. This one usually gets sillier and sillier as you sing and often ends up with everyone laughing and having a good time.
The ‘What am I?’ game
Somebody picks an object, person, or animal in their head and says ‘What am I?’. Then someone else starts with the question “Are you a person, animal, or thing?” After that you ask questions to try and guess what the person is. Ask things like, “Do you have a tail? What color are you? Are you used every day?” Basically any questions that will help you figure out what they are.
Name that place
On road trips you generally pass through many, many places. Cities, towns, villages, corners with names given to them, etc. Whenever you see a sign naming one of these places, everyone has to make up a story about how the town was named. Be as creative and imaginative as possible! For example, a place named ‘Otterville’ could have some outrageous story about Otters.
Bingo game
Car Bingo
You can buy store bought cardboard versions or make your own on the computer. It’s like regular bingo! Only instead of numbers in the boxes there are pictures of items you would see on the road while traveling, such as a stop sign, an orange workers cone, etc. The prize can be whatever you want. (Perhaps a better seat in the car after the next stop?)
These are just a few suggestions for car travel games to play on a road trip. If you want to find more try asking family, friends, teachers, or doing an internet search!
London is a city of great beauty and adventure, yet it can be frustrating for several reasons. Large crowds and long queues threaten to derail any magical holidays to the great English capital. Knowing about the best sights can allow any visitor to plan an itinerary that will make a visit to London smooth and enjoyable. You will find below top ten things to do in London!
London Tower Bridge
Top Ten Things To Do In London
1. The Tower of London and the Tower Bridge
English royal history doesn’t get any better than a visit to the Tower of London. With original buildings dating from 1078, the tower developed over the centuries and brought with it much infamy; it was a place of imprisonment, torture, and death for both criminals and royalty. The tower is now home to the crown jewels, many of which can be viewed by the public, along with excellent displays of historic weaponry. A tour led by a Beefeater, one of the Tower’s famous gatekeepers, is a must. Adjacent to the Tower is the beautiful and impressive Tower Bridge, well worth a visit and a few dozen photographs.
2.Visit a Free Gallery or Museum
One of the great things about London is that many of its top galleries and museums are free – great for those travellers seeking budget options in the UK and Europe. London has some of the best Museums in the world: the Tate Modern Art Gallery rivals the Museum of Modern Art in New York, while the Natural History Museum is also world renowned and will keep kids entertained. Other free museums include the British Museum, the Museum of London, the Science Museum, the RAF Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Tate Modern.
Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
3. See a Performance at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
A brilliantly detailed restored version of Shakespeare’s original Globe Theatre can be found on the South Bank near the Tate Modern. Seeing a performance of one of the Bard’s plays in this amazing natural setting, which perfectly evokes 16th century live theatre, is a must for any Shakespeare fan searching for the history of the Bard in England. Plays run mostly during summer with tickets reasonably priced starting from under £10.
4. Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
Big Ben, standing alongside the stately and stirring Houses of Parliament, should be near the top of anyone’s must-see list of London landmarks. This most iconic image of London is best appreciated from Westminster Bridge where a photo or ten will be required.
London Eye Ferris Wheel
5. London’s Best Views from the London Eye
Located immediately across the river from Big Ben, it’s impossible to miss the striking circular London Eye. More than merely a gigantic Ferris wheel, the London Eye takes a full forty minutes for one rotation and carries visitors up in glass pods allowing perfect views of London. The pods hold around 15 people and allow a full 360 degree view of London from its prestigious centre. Booking tickets online, well in advance, is greatly advised.
Buckingham Palace
6. A Royal Visit to Buckingham Palace
An obvious choice really, but for many good reasons; Buckingham Palace is the home of the Queen and one of the most famous Royal Palaces in the world. Various tours run, which should be booked in advance from the Royal Collection Website. The changing of the guard occurs most days, usually around midday, but check the changing of the guard website for specific daily times.
7. Dazzling Churches: Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of London, and thus one of the most important buildings in mostly Anglican England. With a dome inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, and an interior of great detail and eloquence, the Cathedral is well worth a visit. More impressive externally is England’s famous Westminster Abbey, although its interior is almost as ornate and jaw dropping. Note that both churches have a considerable entry fee: 15 pounds for adults at the Abbey and 11 pounds for St Paul’s Cathedral, which differs from most Cathedrals in Europe, which are generally free.
Piccadilly Circus
8. Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square
The public Squares of Piccadilly and Trafalgar are noteworthy for both their beauty and their significance as central points in London. Trafalgar is blessed with an amazing fountain and some excellent statues, including the renowned Nelson’s Column. Piccadilly Circus is like a miniature English version of Times Square in New York, but the setting and its old-city historical look is visually appealing.
9. Winston Churchill’s Cabinet War Rooms
The bunker from which, during WWII, Sir Winston Churchill and his associates managed the British and allied defense has been restored and is now open to visitors. Heading below the surface and into the dark and intriguing history of England’s defense against the Nazis, this museum is very unique and offers an incredible insight into British history.
Top Ten Things to Do In London
10. Cool Shopping at Camden Markets
Shopping markets are a dime a dozen in London, so it’s especially impressive that the Camden Markets should stand out from the crowd. Aimed at a more alternative sub-culture, the Camden Markets are the sort of place that any tourist can get great satisfaction from simply wandering around and soaking up the liveliness of the crowds. Almost anyone will find something worth buying and a great food market is adjacent, offering cheap food from almost any culture you can think of.

Moving To British Columbia? Here’s What You Need To Know
1. Cost of Living
British Columbia is the most expensive of all the Canadian provinces to live in. The differences between rental rates, real estate, and even the cost of groceries can be tough for some people to get used to. The average rental costs for a one-bedroom apartment can run you over $2,000/month. For many, it is definitely easier to share the rent with a roommate.
The provincial taxes sit at 11%, and that’s on top of the national sales tax of 5%. B.C. also has a P.S.T tax of 5%. Most newcomers really notice the difference in their everyday purchases, gas costs, and entertainment.

2. Paperwork
If you are relocating to British Columbia permanently, you will need to get some paperwork in order. You can formally change your mailing address by going online at Canada Post or heading down to your local post office.
To update your medical services, you will need to apply for your B.C. Medical Services Plan, which is the equivalent of your OHIP coverage. You can apply online at the B.C. provincial government webpage.
If you are becoming a permanent resident, you should also change your driver’s licence. You can wait until it expires, but for insurance purposes, it’s a good idea to get it updated right away with your new address.
Wapta Falls
3. Public Transit
Once you arrive in magical British Columbia, you will need to know how to get around. If you are a student, it is unlikely that you will have your own car and will need to take advantage of the public transportation service. If you arrive without a job, you can take advantage of this public service to take you out job hunting.
There is no Uber service in the province yet, but you have a few options available to you. Use the Vancouver SkyTrain, the bus, the trolley, or the shuttle to get around town. Monthly or annual passes can be purchased at any depot or online at the B.C. Public Transit site.
Moving To British Columbia? Here’s What You Need To Know
4. Utilities
Once you get settled, you will need to get all your utilities hooked up. Electricity is provided by BC Hydro across the province. Natural gas service has been deregulated in the province so you can choose your own providers like Direct Energy or Planet Energy.
Conclusion
Moving across the country can be a great adventure and there are few destinations that have so much to offer like British Columbia. Get started on the right foot by knowing what to expect once you arrive. With this information, you will be able to plan and budget your move for your new life on the west coast!

1. To plan for leftovers, order a turkey that is several pounds bigger than what you need. That way you can be sure to cook once and eat twice, with leftover turkey to spare for additional meals once everyone has had their fill.
2. Plan for leftovers by allocating 1½ – 2 pounds of turkey per person. This will give you ½ to 1 pound of extra turkey for each person at your table.
3. Make sure you pack your leftovers within 2 hours after cooking to maintain the quality and safety of the food.
4. Save and freeze the turkey carcass and bones, too. Use these to make a delicious turkey stock that can easily be frozen for use in soups, sauces, gravies and mashed potatoes.
5. Freeze any leftover gravy in muffin tins or ice cube trays. Once frozen, store in a zip top bag or air tight container and use as needed.

Bathroom renovations are the most popular updates that homeowners can do. The return on investment is high, especially if you are thinking about selling in the future. You can turn your bathroom into a functional and stylish space with a full reno or just some small changes like new wallpaper.
There are plenty of ways that you can change up a drab and unattractive bathroom and turn it into a private oasis that you will enjoy for years.
innovative bathroom
Wall Mounted Toilets
You may have only seen a wall-mounted toilet in the poshest and most modern homes or hotels in the past. Now you can have one in your own home! As the popularity of these streamlined and simple units increases, more homeowners are looking to install a wall-mounted toilet. These toilets are low maintenance and easy to clean around, unlike their floor model cousins.
No Dam Showers
For a clean and seamless look, you could install a no dam shower unit. When you remove the blockade of a shower lip or bridge, you can make your bathroom safer with less risk of falling or tripping. This open-air design can help you make your smaller bathroom look a bit bigger. Your shower unit will need to be properly graded to allow for efficient drainage, with the most effective collection being with the use of a linear drain.
Glass Shower
For an open and airy look to your bathroom, you can install a floor to ceiling glass shower unit. A full glass shower designed and professionally cut by pros is an easy upgrade that looks luxe. Creative frosting can help you maintain privacy without losing the dramatic effect that a glass unit will give you.
Innovative Trends For Your Bathroom Renovation
Console Sink Vanities
These minimalist design vanities are perfect for your small bathroom or powder room. From an industrial look made from an iron pipe to a rustic wooden pedestal, a console sink can make the space look chic and organized. Due to the lack of storage space, a console sink is a better choice for a second bathroom.
Side Mount Faucet
If you are looking to add some inventive accents to your bathroom space, you can try a side-mounted faucet. Not only does this placement add a bit of stylish flair, but can help you save some much-needed counter space. For vanities that are shallow or crowded, or if you would like to increase the size of your washbasin, a side-mounted faucet is the perfect choice.
Skinny Tile
Ceramic tile is a great design choice and highly functional in your bathroom. If you are looking to keep your decor simple but would like a pop of color or texture, long skinny tiles can have a dramatic visual effect. The cousin of the popular subway tile, skinny tiles, are functional and can easily give a modern look to your space.
Innovative Bathroom
Conclusion
You shouldn’t cringe every time you go into your own bathroom. If you need to update your decor or just want to start from scratch with a full-blown renovation, these trends for the bathroom can help give you the modern and functional look that you are looking for. Be conscious of innovative trends that are too dramatic so that your decor will stay in style for years to come!

September is the National Month of the Happy Cat. Do you know what the best way to celebrate this month is? By having a cat that is happy and healthy of course! Cats are easier to please than you would think; however, seeing to it that your feline pal is healthy may mean you will need to put in a little effort. It will be well worth all the trouble!
For cat lovers and pet parents who know what they’re doing, every month needs to be Happy, Healthy Cat Month. September is a great time to raise awareness of what must be done for our feline friends!
Cat sitting outside.
1. Healing Time
One way to definitely keep your cat happy is to make sure they’re healthy. You shouldn’t ever wait until you surmise that your cat could be sick before seeing the vet. Cats don’t like others to know if they’re hurt. This is an evolutionary throwback from when cats lived in the wild. Take Kitty to the vet for not only preventive treatments but regular check-ups. Irritating insects incite itching in your illustrious pet, even indoors. Inquire about beneficial pest prevention methods from your vet. If you are of modest means, health insurance is available for cats. Ask about it.
2. Eating Time
Make sure your furry friends have a healthy and balanced diet. You can talk to your veterinarian to see how to help keep your cat on track in this department. Depending on their age and health, cats have different dietary needs, and it is up to their owners to make sure that they are getting what they need to be healthy and stay healthy. In most cases, feed your cats quality food and fresh, clean water. Milk should not be the only fluid cats receive to stay hydrated. It can actually cause some stomach irritability.
No pet parent will find themselves having trouble getting their healthy cat to eat. Meat is your cat’s favourite food. Cats need food that has lots of protein and very few to no carbs. Cats are obligate carnivores. That means a cat needs to have meat. Your cat’s food must list meat of some form as the primary ingredient. There should be no artificial additives, fillers, or colours in your cat’s food. Every cat has unique nutritional needs. Ask the vet what would be effective.
September Means Awareness for Happy, Healthy Cat Month
A ubiquitous but harmful error is to overfeed your cat. It is all too easy to confuse food with love and give your darling pet more food than what’s good. Kitty will have to problem with that. This results in a chubby munchkin with a high risk of cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. Your cat should be getting ample exercise as well.
4. Play Time
Cats love to play. They love searching around their surroundings, and they love hunting and pouncing on moving objects. They need to have stimulation to stay occupied and happy. Have areas set up around your home that are play zones for your cat.
One sure way to see to it your cat happy is to let it have fun. Give it your time as well. Throw some toys for her, dangle the string. Set up a scratching post and combine it with a toy like a squeaking mouse or a ball of string so your cat can play and be entertained and stimulated. Provide climbing trees so that it can have fun without ravaging your home. Give it your time as well. Throw some toys for it, dangle the string. Just keep in mind that these toys are safe for your cat to play with, and cannot be swallowed or destroyed by your cat.
5. Potty Time
This may seem like a miniscule thing, but it’s very important indeed to a cat. Cats like to be neat and clean. A tidy cat likes something more than just occasional grooming. Cats like it when their litter box is clean. So will you! Pick out a tray and litter that fits your cat best!
6. Outdoor winter warnings
Some cats like to wander outside in the winter, so pet owners should be mindful about what may seem appealing to them at this time of the year and how to keep them safe. Since the weather is cold, some cats adventuring outdoors may want to find a warm place to rest. Check your vehicle hood to make sure that cats are not hanging out in there to seek warmth before you turn on the engine. This could prevent cats from becoming injured or killed by the fan belt.
Another way to keep your cat safe while it is outside is to keep it away from ethylene glycol. It is a chemical found in products such as antifreeze and brake fluids, and can cause injury or death to your cat if consumed. Animals are attracted to this chemical because it tastes sweet. Try to clean up any mess due to spills from this substance, and throw away anything coming into contact with it.
These are just some of the many ways you can show you cat a bit more love. Cats love to feel loved, so snuggle up with your cat and keep it warm, comfortable and safe!

Whether you are a single mom, or have a partner around the house to help, developing DIY skills is a good idea. After all, you cannot always rely on someone else being around to fix a problem.
Woman removing an electrical outlet before painting.
If there is no one
in the house who can help, you end up having to call the handyman. This is a
waste of time and money, when you would be able to deal with the problem
yourself if you had the right skills. So, what simple DIY
skills can any mom learn?
5 DIY Skills That a Mom Should Know
Unblocking a toilet
It does not take a
lot to block a toilet, especially if you have young kids who will try to flush
pretty much anything. This is why unblocking a toilet is one of the first DIY
skills that any mom should learn.
Often, you simply
need to use a plunger to clear the blockage. If you do not have a plunger you
can try tightly wrapping a plastic bag around the end of a wire coat hanger and
using this in the same way as you would a plunger. If plunging the toilet does
not work, you can buy or rent a drain snake which goes further down the drain.
Kitchen faucet running.
Fixing a leaking faucet
A dripping faucet
is not just annoying, it’s also a waste of water. This is important as water
costs you money. The first thing you need to remember when fixing the faucet is
that you should turn off the water. You should learn how to do this as soon as
you move into a new property, just in case there is ever a leak or burst in
your home. Once the water is switched off, follow the instructions to fix the faucet,
before turning the water back on.
Replacing a door lock
If the locks on the
doors in your home are not working as they should, you should not just ignore
the problem. This is because a malfunctioning lock can be dangerous. Imagine
what would happen if you and your kids awoke to find a fire in your home and
you could not get out of the front door because the lock had jammed.
If a lock is not
working, it may be a good idea to simply replace
it. This is not that difficult to do and being able to do the work
yourself saves you the cost of having to hire a professional.
Paint roller
Painting walls and ceilings
If you have little ones running around in your home, there is a good chance that the walls quickly become dirty. There is only so much that washing will do. There comes a time when a repaint is necessary. Often, it’s a good idea to do the whole room, including the ceiling, at the same time. Painting skills are not that difficult to acquire, and doing the work yourself can actually be quite therapeutic.
Woman using a power tool.
Using power tools
The ability to use
power tools is useful to have, in many forms of DIY work. Many women are a
little daunted at the thought of using power tools but it’s actually perfectly
safe to do, as long as you follow the instructions in the manuals provided.
Start slowly, by completing little projects, and build up your skills as you
go.
5 DIY Skills That a Mom Should Know
As a busy mom, you
may think that you do not have time for DIY. However, having just a few simple
DIY skills can save you money and give you a great sense of satisfaction.

My daughter recently had a birthday and she was over the moon about her special day. She loves art and is always creating somethings cute and colourful. Art makes her happy and she incorporates it into her school work. I wanted a simple and creative way to capture the magic of the day for her work space. I gained my inspiration from this photo.
Girl holding a a cupcake on a chair.
My girl is all about the pink and cute images, so I designed a photo mat on a free design app and printed it off. This would also make for a great cover to a can or plastic tub to help create a reusable craft like a pencil holder for a desk.
I then used the Epson iPrint app to print the photo. It was so easy to perform this function. The quality of the image was really good. The colours were bright and vivid. With the correct photo paper, it took a few minutes to have a physical copy of the image I wanted to print.
I then glued the mat onto the photo border within the frame, then glued the photo to the mat. I assembled the frame and placed it on her desk to add more fun and flare to it. She saw it and was so happy with this addition to her work space

With fall approaching, now’s a good time to get your home renovation project started. The colder season will bring unpredictability. Not only could a bad storm delay your project, but it may affect its quality. For example, if you need to get the cracks and potholes in your driveway repaired, then it’s advisable to do so before it’s covered by leaves. Here are some potentially costly mistakes you should avoid when shopping for interior concrete cutting services for renovations at home.

Avoid These 7 Mistakes When Hiring a Concrete Cutting Contractor
#1 Automatically Going with the Cheapest Option
When you
want to get the job done the right way but are also on a budget, it’s tempting
to pick the lowest bidder. However, a professional that promises to complete
your project at a price well below market rates may leave you with a headache.
If they’re
skipping a few steps to do things cheaply, then your project may need expensive
and time-consuming revisions. Remember the adage: “You get what you pay for.”
#2 Using the Services of an Inexperienced Professional
Hire a
company that’s been in the business for decades. Concrete cutting can be
complicated. Experienced professionals will manage the unexpected without
botching the job or damaging your property.

#3 Being Unsure
Even the
most experienced professionals will struggle to do the job if you’re indecisive.
Have clarity before greenlighting the project. If you’re unsure, ask them for
ideas. An honest professional will help you by keeping your expectations
realistic.
#4 Not Checking Their Reputation
In the
digital age, hiring anyone on their word is inexcusable. Most reputable
companies have an informative website. Check their testimonials and browse
through pictures of their work. Learn about the kind of projects they do. If
they also do commercial work such as highways and airports, then they’re likely
to do your residential job professionally.
#5 Not Going with a Local Company
Some
localities in Canada experience particularly harsh weather. When shopping for a contractor,
find a professional that understands the demands of the local climate. This
could improve the longevity of your completed project. For example, in a town
that experiences freezing winters, a local contractor is likely to be more
adept at repairing and maintaining driveways to withstand the elements.

#6 Ignoring Safety Policies and Certifications
It’s vital
to select a company that’s certified and has a strong safety policy. A
certified contractor will follow all regulations. And a company with strong
safety policies is likely to respect their workers and your property. Remember,
concrete cutting can be hazardous work. If nothing else, it’s good karma to
choose a company that believes in accountability.
#7 Not Asking About Recycling
Concrete
cutting can produce several by-products. Some of these are hazardous for your
health and the environment. A good company will recycle on-site. They’ll also
have equipment that can dispose of waste efficiently. You don’t want to do the
cleanup after your contractor is done.
Avoid These 7 Mistakes When Hiring a Concrete Cutting Contractor
These are
seven mistakes you should avoid when hiring a contractor for your concrete
project. Remember to find a reputable and experienced company that answers your
questions and provides you with a free quote. Most importantly – trust your gut.
Growing kids have a lot of energy, and more often than not, you’ll find them exploring everything that comes in their way; however, some kids may start presenting antisocial behavior and shyness at a very early stage. As a parent, you may be a bit concerned about it. If that sounds like you, here are 3 simple tips to help your child overcome shyness!

How To Help Your Child Overcome Shyness
1. Highlight their Strengths
In many cases, children may become shy and withdrawn because they’re insecure or have self esteem issues. If you suspect that is the case, highlighting their strengths often and being vocal about it in front of their friends can help boost his confidence levels, and also reduce their shyness to a good extent. As a parent, always make sure you make your little one feel good about themselves, and if they make a mistake, don’t make a big deal out of it. Teach him how every human has flaws, and it is okay to have them.
2. Encourage Interaction
This one’s a bit tricky. You need to encourage your kid to be friends with those around their age by starting to open up more and by being more social. But at the same time, you have to make sure that you don’t be too pushy. Start by encouraging them to interact with their family friends, cousins, and teachers. Find common topics of conversation and point them out to them to help them feel more confident about establishing a conversation with others.
3 Ways to Make your Child Overcome Shyness
3. Have a Talk
Many times, kids tend to become withdrawn and shy due to some deep rooted issues. Make sure you get some quality time with your kid often, where the two of you can open up and talk about anything and everything.
As a parent, your job is to make your kid feel secure and safe with you, so that they can open up about anything that might be bothering them, or any issues that they may be dealing with on a personal level, which could be causing them to become shy. You’ll be surprised at how effective these little tricks can be in helping your child overcome shyness!

Have you ever taken a leap of faith? Boy, have I leaped in my life! My most recent leap happened last year, when I moved my family to a beautiful remote Inuit community in northern Quebec called Kuujjuaq. My husband had been offered his dream job and we couldn’t let this opportunity pass us by.
Taking That Leap of Faith in the Tundra
At first, the idea of leaving everything familiar behind was petrifying. I had been born and raised in Ottawa and the furthest I had lived was in Montreal.
During many long discussions, my husband and I talked about selling our house, our cars and storing all of our furniture IF we were to embark on this adventure. We had discovered that I would have to home school both kids, which was completely foreign to me (gulp!). Needless to say, I had endless questions running through my head.
What if I end up miserable and lonely and go crazy? What if I’m not be able to homeschool my kids successfully? What if I can’t continue my coaching business? What if one of us gets really sick? What if my friends forget about me? What if there’s nothing to do there? What if the kids hate it? What if, what if, what if…
Have you ever played the « what if » game when you’re faced with an important decision to make? It sends us down that rabbit hole of fear. It paralyzes us and stops us from experiencing life changing events. Life experiences that could help us grow and evolve as human beings.
How did I get out of that spiraling rabbit hole?
2 boys playing on a beach
FAITH!
Pretty simple, right? Were you expecting some kind of complicated process? Same here. I thought I would have to go through this extremely long process of writing down the pros and cons regarding this northern adventure.
Instead, I chose to turn towards the faith I have in this wonderful Universe we live in. I truly BELIEVED that this opportunity appeared before us because there was important personal growth for all my family to experience. I believed that Kuujjuaq had something special and priceless to offer us.
Maybe once this beautiful adventure comes to and end, we will embark on another one…maybe somewhere where there are palm trees and fresh coconut water? 😉
So I leaped…and looking at my pictures, you can see that the « what if » game was a huge waste of my time. 😉 We have been living here for over a year now, and we have yet to experience all of what the Great North has to offer.
5 Questions To Ask Yourself When Choosing & Installing A Car Seat For Your Child
85% of the car seats that we see are incorrectly installed! In Canada, the law requires that children be properly restrained in an appropriate car seat or booster seat while travelling in a vehicle. Choosing the right car seat for your child and installing it in your vehicle can be a daunting task, so here are 5 questions you can ask yourself.
Ottawa Safety Council’s BestFit Car Seat Program
1. How do I choose the right car seat?
There is no simple answer to this question. There are over 10 different car seat manufacturers, who each make numerous models of car seats, which are available for purchase in Canada. No one car seat is the perfect seat. The size, height and weight of your child, along with the make and model of your vehicle play a role in determining the most appropriate car seat for you. Children come in all shapes and sizes, so what works for one child may not work well for another.
Always check the height and weight limits of the seat, to make sure it is an appropriate stage seat for your child. If possible, it is always best to “try on” the car seat before purchasing it. This means placing the car seat in your vehicle and harnessing in your child. This will help you to determine whether the seat is a good fit.
2.How much money do I need to spend to keep my child safe?
There is a misconception that the more expensive the car seat, the better it is. This is not the case. All car seats sold in Canada should have passed Transport Canada’s safety testing. This is a pass or fail system. To ensure the car seat has passed this test, please look for the Transport Canada sticker, which you can find on the shell of the seat.
There are several options available for under $100 so there is no need to spend more than that. An inexpensive car seat will still keep your child safe.
3. Are second hand car seats safe?
We highly recommend purchasing a new car seat for your child. Although car seats come with a 10-year expiry date, it does not mean that they can be handed down to someone else. It is highly discouraged to do so as during the time the seat was in the possession of another user, several factors could have come into play. For example: some models of car seats could have had a recall on them due to a defect or could have been involved in a collision which would affect the integrity of the seat. For your child’s safety it is advised to buy a new car seat.
Car Seat Installation Instructions
4.How do I properly install a car seat?
The moment has come! You have finally zeroed in on the right car seat and now for the install. Do not worry because your best friend is the car seat manual that comes along with the purchase and your vehicle manual. It is strongly advised that you read the car seat manual carefully before installing the seat, as well as the Child Restraint section in your vehicle manual. If you have misplaced your manuals, please contact the manufacturer directly to have it replaced. Downloading the manual often leads to misinformation as manufacturers make changes from year to year or one model to the next and it is difficult to ensure that you are reading the correct version.
Things to consider:
Will you use the UAS or seatbelt to install the seat?
Where in the vehicle will the car seat fit best?
Does the headrest of the vehicle interfere with the installation?
Should the seat be rear or forward facing?
Are there other children or passengers in the vehicle to consider?
5.When is it safe to switch to a booster seat?
There is no hard and fast rule that determines when your child can move to a booster seat. The government of Ontario states that your child must be a minimum of 40lbs in order to use a booster seat. Please keep in mind that this is a minimum. Many children can ride safely in their car seats until 65lbs. There is no need to rush into a booster seat. Best Practise is to make sure that your child is mature enough to use a booster seat, meaning they must be able to sit up straight for the entire duration of the trip. You also need to ensure that a proper seat belt fit can be obtained. If the seatbelt does not fit your child properly, then he/she will not be protected in the event of a collision.
Who knew that car seats could be so complicated?

School’s back in session! One aspect of learning that usually goes by the wayside during the summer is reading. What if learning and improving a child’s reading skills could be fun? Reading Eggs wants to help kids crack into reading fun with their app created by a highly experienced team of teachers, educational writers, animators, and web developers. Reading Eggs asked if my kids would enjoy brushing up on their reading skills by reviewing this app. My kids were curious to see what this program had in store for them!
Before you crack into reading
This app can be used by iOS and Android users. Once the program has been downloaded on to your device, you can set your child to begin the program at a specific reading level. I used an iPhone and an Android phone to crack into this app with my kids.
There are a few steps to do to get started with this app. This is to make sure your child is using the program correctly. Kids also complete a placement test to make sure they are placed in the correct level. Parents must also note that the program is free for only one month. Once this trial is over, there is a monthly fee of $9.99. My little ones loved being on a device to play games. I could not wait to see how well they would like using this program to motivate them to like reading, too.

Let the learning (and fun) begin!
My kids are reluctant readers but could not wait to jump into the program. My son really enjoyed his initial lessons. He really liked Soot the Dog because he likes to cook. My little guy also liked the Spelling lessons and the Driving Tests. He is learning about word groupings, how to spell, and how to put together sentences.
My daughter really digs reading the Books section of this app. Kids can read books each week that touch on a variety of subjects. What I really loved about this section is that there is a quiz at the end of each story. This tests crack into their recollection skills about details in each book.
Hopping around to each egg
Both of my kids found it easy to move around from section to section. For most sections, there is an egg in the top left side of the screen that allows users to exit a particular lesson. Since there are so many different sections for kids to choose from, kids do not have a shortage of areas to explore and discover.
Reading Eggs Map Screenshot.
Keeping kids on track
A great idea Reading Eggs has built into this program is a progress hub. It lets kids and parents know how well they are doing every week. It keeps track of the lessons they have finished, the amount of books they have read, and the eggs they have earned for their hard work. This keeps kids wanting to crack more into the program and feel proud of the work they have completed.
Egg-cellent extras
They make sure young learners have fun within this app as well. At the end of each lesson, kids get praised for the work they have done. Kids are also rewarded with bonus fun with some of the lessons. With the Drive Test section, after a successful run, kids are able to choose their own car and race around a track to collect stars while avoiding hazards.
Kids love creating avatars! This app allows kids to customize for their profile in this program. My daughter has changed her little friend quit a few times that adds to the fun of her experience while using this app. There are a lot of choices for kids to select to make their avatar special for them.
There are also fun Game areas for kids to enjoy. My kids loved visiting these sections to play around without noticing they were learning. They loved the Play Kitchen where users could create meals, pizzas, sundaes, and more to create fun dishes. Where is My Reading Egg is a game where kids go in search of a particular character in a large group of other characters. Concentration gets users to match pairs. All of these games crack open young minds more to allow for learning to continue.
Reading Eggs Review
My kids loved being able to crack into reading whenever they wanted with Reading Eggs. Once all of the registration was complete, my kids were able to dive into learning games to help improve their reading skills. The app is easy to use, and the games are so much fun to play. The progress hub keeps kids going in the right direction while noting their accomplishments. The extra fun games adds more learning to maintain the fun of this program. It is a fun addition to my children’s reading journey!
Think your kids would be excited about learning to read with Reading Eggs? We found out more about this app by visiting their website and by checking out their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest pages!
