Since the longer nights get dark and cold in the autumn and winter months, I personally like to add a little bit of brightness with the little things that make ordinary customs feel extraordinary. That’s why I enjoy making chocolate spoons to go with my hot beverages before sunrise, or after dusk.
What are chocolate spoons used for
The holidays are more than anything else a time for fun. I love finding things to do that are purely for the joy of doing them. It’s rare to get these opportunities so I try to take them whenever I can during the season of cheer. Chocolate edible spoons literally melt in your coffee or hot chocolate. It’s hard to imagine anything more joyous than melting a chocolate spoon in a hot cup of my favourite coffee blend. Possibly a big mug of rich chocolatey cocoa with a chocolate edible spoon melting while the fireplace blazes and carols stream through the air.
This recipe for chocolate spoons with holiday sprinkles requires molds in order to get the desired spoon shape for the chocolate, but it’s a lot of fun. I really enjoy having little edible spoons that I can stir my coffee with. It adds that balance of sweetness to the bitterness of the coffee that makes each sip better than the last. When I use it with my hot chocolate it doubles down on the chocolatey flavour. What makes these DIY chocolate spoons even more fun is that they are covered in Christmas sprinkles to make the presentation even more magical.
