There are two ways to prepare a Christmas themed meal. The most obvious way is to bake traditional Christmas favourites. The second way is to play with the colours and shapes of any food you like in order to conform it to the holiday season. This crisp Christmas pizza with lots of pepperoni and sliced cheese hit the mark. Especially with cookie-cutter Christmas shapes.
Because of its national colours, I like to make Christmas inspired recipes out of Italian cuisine. I also might just like pizza a lot! That’s a distinct possibility. But the red white and green colours do lend themselves more easily to a Christmas-themed atmosphere, especially when you can incorporate those colours into the food.
Customizable Christmas Pizza
This Christmas pizza recipe is simple and you can take liberties with it if you like. I laid out a thick background of pepperoni and made Christmas trees out of the sliced cheese to add some white Christmas flare. If you prefer a more cheese heavy recipe, by all means, cut shapes out of large slices of pepperoni or prosciutto. The great thing about pizza is how customizable it is. You can even incorporate more green into the pie by adding green peppers, spinach, or fresh basil. All of these are fantastically flavourful options that will crank up the enjoyment of this already delightful dish.
Shapes
Another customizable aspect of this thin crust Christmas Pizza recipe is the Christmas shapes. I chose to use the Christmas tree as my ultimate symbol of Christmas, but you can also fill your pizza with candy canes, stockings, angels, or anything else you feel will carry the theme well. Although this isn’t a traditional holiday cookie, pie, or Christmas feast recipe, I enjoy the festive appearance of this year-round favorite. Red pepperoni pizza covered in white trees is the best way for me to enjoy a Christmas pizza over the holidays.
