This easy recipe for rocky road candy can be whipped up in a matter of moments, and ready to enjoy in under an hour. It is perfect for when you have last minute guests dropping by, or just have a craving for something sweet, salty and nutty. I don’t know about you, but I could go for a little rocky road anytime of year!

This recipe for Christmas treats makes the best rocky road candy; with smooth chocolate, crispy nuts and fluffy marshmallows. It is the perfect balance in snacking with something for everyone, no matter what you are craving. While I kept this recipe traditional, you can also add in whatever you like. I have added shredded coconut and pecans before for a tasty twist!

Old fashioned rocky road candy makes for an unforgettable edible Christmas gift. They make the perfect Christmas treats to gift! It is so easy to make you might wonder why you have never tried before! As there is no baking required, all you need to do is melt chocolate chips and a tiny bit of Crisco together and mix until smooth. You can do this in the microwave or with a double boiler. Then mix in your other ingredients and drop the results by the spoonful to dry. It is a pretty simple process for such decadent results!

Rocky Road Candy ingredients

  • 1 bag of milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup of dry roasted peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon of crisco

How to make rocky road candy

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Using a double boiler, or the microwave, melt the chocolate chips and the crisco together, stirring often, until the chocolate chips can be stirred smooth. If you melt in the microwave, stir every 30 seconds.

When the chocolate is melted smooth, add in the dry roasted peanuts and stir. Now add the mini marshmallows and stir.

Drop by the spoonful onto the parchment paper and allow to cool and dry for about 30 minutes. You can also put the cookie sheet into the fridge to speed the process along. Enjoy these heavenly chocolate rocky road candies!

  • 1 300 gr milk chocolate chips 1 bag
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

  • 1 tablespoon Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening
