Ride the Path with Polar Stroller Skis – Review

Polar Stroller is a small family business (husband & wife team) in Calgary, who design and manufacture skis for strollers and bike trailers in Canada. They first designed their Polar Stroller skis for their own personal use, to be able to continue to enjoy winter walks with their baby in the warmth and comfort of his stroller.

How Polar Stroller Skis Were Born

As avid outdoors and winter sport parents, who live at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, skis for their son’s stroller were the obvious solution. They wanted their baby to have a first class ride, gliding over the rutted, snow packed pathways and floating over the snow. Bringing joy and happiness to exploring this winter wonderland as a family. They loved their skis so much and everywhere we went people stopped and asked them where they purchased them as they so needed them for their strollers. Hence, Polar Stroller was born.

With a 2 month old baby who only slept whilst moving in his stroller, the stroller skis were a lifeline for them, both mentally and physically. They wanted to share their new found freedom with like minded parents, as it seamed the right thing to do.

    • Thank you for your comment Francine, It was important to us that the skis be interchangeable between devices, specially as the average family has 3.4 strollers! lol.
The RX3 skis fit all wheel sizes and great for those who have a Stroller and Bike trailer/chariot. You can use them to tow behind a bike or push your stroller.

The 4X4 skis are designed for those with smaller wheel strollers, dual wheel strollers and special needs strollers, since they are shorter and wider.

    • Thank you Lucy, As parents, engineerings and manufactures, it is very important to us that our product is the best it can possibly be. Having a real life testing crew from all different backgrounds gives us invaluable information to keep developing our product to be of the best possible quality.

  1. The feature I like best is the skis are made from ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) so they are built to last and work well in snow.

    • Thanks for your comment. Yes, we use ABS as it is extremely strong and not temperature sensitive. We also lab test and strength test our skis at -20 Degrees C. Also no maintenance, since we all have such busy lives, just throw them into their custome made carry bag until the next time to need them.

  2. Every single feature is awesome. I love that these are easy to put on. Very important. 🙂 I really love that this company gives back. Imagine if every single company did that.

    • Thank you Doreen, It is very important to us as parents and a family business that we help local children less fortunate than ours. Providing a warm meal is just the beginning and as we grow as a company we will give back more. We wish more companies did this too.

    • Thanks Lori,

It is my husband who is the brain child behind the invention. Being an avid snowboarder and engineer, he could believe that 4 yrs ago skis for strollers didn’t already exist!

  3. I looked for something like this when my first baby was born! I love how it will give parents the freedom to get out even if the neighbours haven’t cleared the sidewalks yet!

  4. I love the skis the best. I took my granddaughter to our santa claus parade last year and it was such a struggle pushing the stroller. this would be fabulous.

  5. Loving all the great comments, thank you for your kind words, it is inspiring as a mompreneur, who puts in way too many hours!
Please help to share our awesome stroller skis and everything you love about them, by liking, commenting and sharing our Facebook page. The more successful we are the more we can give back 🙂

  6. I love everything about it and wish it had been around when my kids were in strollers. I would love to win this for my daughter, she would love it as they try to get outside as much as possible with their little one! Thanks for the opportunity.

    • Hi Gail,
      Thank you for your comment.

I agree, parents and grandparents and care givers should be given the opportunity to get outside with their little ones as much as possible. By using our stroller skis, it enables that to happen, whilst the child is safe and warm in the comfort of their stroller.
Mother nature has so many healing properties for both babes and parents!

    • Hi Calvin,
Thank you for your comment. We agree that there is no place for plastic bindings, especially in sub zero temperatures. The durability of the skis and bindings are vital to keeping the precious cargo safe. That is also why we use coated air craft cable and not fabric straps, to anchor the ski to the wheel.

Quality is very important to us in both our product and customer service. WE are here and happy to help 🙂

    • Hi Sean,
Thank you for your comment. The twin tips were a new feature for last year. This is due to feedback from our real life testing crew. They needed to be able to rock the baby in the stroller, when they stopped walking. We all know what happens when you stop a stroller with a sleeping baby in…. there eyes open and they begin to cry…. well mine do anyway. So we decided to twin tip the skis, so you can rock your stroller with the skis on.

  7. Such a super invention and makes life so much easier for parents living in snowy areas (most of Canada, lol). Love that they are easily interchangeable for a variety of strollers etc.

  8. managing the strollers are always a hassle, but this seems like its very easy and simple to use, without mentionning no tools needed. Im in love already! kudos to the designer, you can tell that they are active parents!

  9. Such a great product! I’m just excited that we can hike the trails around our house with the little one with ease!

    Thank you!

  10. I like that the 4X4 Stroller Skis fit 4 wheel strollers as well as some 3 wheel strollers. It gives you more options when switching them between strollers or when buying a new stroller.
