Holiday Planning Tips

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner. Where did the year go? That being said, you still have plenty of time to plan for a festive holiday season. Here are a few (of many) tips to consider.

Use a Holiday Planner

One of the best ideas I can give you is to use a holiday planner like the one provided below. It honestly takes most of the guesswork out of your initial planning stages. You can find many more planners on the web too!

Host a Christmas Cookie Exchange

If you love baking holiday cookies consider hosting a Christmas cookie exchange. It’s the perfect opportunity to interact with friends and family for a yummy afternoon of entertaining. Ask everyone to bring a dozen of their favourite cookies for each person attending. At the end of the get-together, send guests home with their cookie stash. I guarantee they’ll thank you for it!

Purchase Gifts throughout the Year

This is a wonderful tip to take advantage of, starting at the beginning of year. Purchasing gifts throughout the year takes almost all of the stress off of last-minute shopping. Not only that, it gives you the chance to purchase things when they’re on sale, which is typically a huge money saver.

Switch-Out Real Candles

Flickering candlelight is gorgeous. But, it’s also dangerous… especially around little ones. Battery-powered candles to the rescue! You still get the beauty and ambience of candlelight without the risk of fire or injury.

Serve One Cocktail

Make bartending so much easier at your holiday parties this season, by serving one lone cocktail. Choose a recipe that appeals to the masses and is easy to premix and refrigerate before guests arrive.

These are just a few tips to help make your holiday planning go more smoothly. Remember, the more you accomplish in advance, the less frustrated you’ll be!

  1. I’m hosting my first cookie exchange this year. A total of 6 people (myself included) and I’m a little excited. I’m going to supply some nibbles and some bubbles and kept the invite to an hour and a half total!

  2. I’m lucky because the only thing I have to do for Christmas is buying the gifts, mind you with 7 kids and 8 grandkids that no easy task either. My son and family do all the cooking and putting up guests so I have no worries there.
