10 Easy Bathroom Clutter-Proof Tips

The bathroom is typically the most frequently used room in the home and also the smallest room in the home. Maintaining control over bathroom clutter can prove a real challenge. You will find below 10 easy bathroom clutter-proof tips!

Ten Tips For Controlling Bathroom Clutter

With some cooperation from family members and some clever organizational efforts on your part, it can be done. You can organize your bathroom in a way that efficiently reduces and controls the clutter while giving your bathroom a bright new look at the same time.

1. Declutter

The first step toward controlling bathroom clutter is to declutter and to remove everything in the bathroom that is no longer working, no longer used and no longer needed. Keep only those items used for daily grooming and hygiene. Everything else goes. Also clean out your medicine cabinet. Toss old makeup, used toothbrushes, dried up toothpaste, and any other items no longer usable. Get rid of medicines you no longer need or that have passed their expiration date.

2. Organize

Organizing a bathroom requires good micro-organization skills. Once you have decluttered the bathroom, organize all remaining items. Those items you use every day should be readily accessible, either on the vanity counter or in nearby drawers, cabinets, and shelves. Grouping similar items together in containers and assigning convenient places for them helps organize the bathroom while also controlling future clutter buildup.

3. Use Available Space

Take advantage of all available space while still leaving enough open floor area for easy navigating and safety purposes. If you have a small bathroom, good use of wall space is mandatory. Install as many storage and organizing units as you can without overdoing it and without getting that cluttered look again.

4. Get Some Organizers

Drawer and cabinet organizers are a must. Lazy Susan carousels and over-the-door pocket organizers save space and are excellent for grouping similar items together.

5. Install Storage Units

When adding storage units in your bathroom, think both utility and aesthetics. You can increase your storage area and also increase the attractiveness of your bathroom at the same time. Check online or visit your local DIY store for over-the-toilet units, freestanding cabinets and corner shelving that will give you extra storage while also adding beauty and to your bathroom and make it clutter-proof.

6. Hang Wall Caddies

Hang several wall caddies in the shower area. Wall caddies are great for holding a multitude of items from shampoos, conditioners, and soap to kid’s bath toys.

7. Use Racks, Hooks And Mounts

Install several towel racks and hooks in the shower area and also on the bathroom door if there is room. If you have some extra wall space, install some wall mounts for holding hair dryers and curling irons. This will help to keep your bathroom clutter-proof.

8. Get The Right Mirror

If you don’t already have one, install a vanity mirror that also has a medicine cabinet attached on the back. This will give you extra storage for those small grooming and hygiene items and also your medicines. If you have young children in the house, keep your medicines locked in a secure place to avoid accidental swallowing.

9. Use Under-The-Sink Space

Utilize whatever space is available under the bathroom sink. If enclosed, use small baskets and bins to store items. Stackable bins work well if there is enough room. If your sink is exposed, consider enclosing it to gain some extra storage. If this is not an option, use some decorative storage containers under the sink for towels and other bulky items.

10. Include Some Decorating

While making your bathroom clutter-proof, do a bit of decorating at the same time. Ornamental baskets, trays, and jars can serve as storage while adding a nice touch to your bathroom decor. Decorative apothecary jars are perfect for storing cotton balls, soaps and other small items and will look lovely on the vanity. Hand towels can be rolled and placed in a basket for an added decorative touch.

As most bathrooms are high-traffic areas, controlling bathroom clutter can be difficult. These clutter-proofs tips mentioned above will help to keep the bathroom well-organized, functional and clutter-free, everyone has to pitch in. Bathroom etiquette is important. After use, each person should tidy up the bathroom, put wet towels on the rack or in the laundry, put soaps, shampoos, and other items back in their designated containers and leave the bathroom welcoming and clutter-free for the next person.

  1. I needed this, we really need to de-clutter. It seems things just gather when they should be thrown out, to many expired items.

  2. Thank you for the great tips. I find it does get cluttered up with products because everyone likes different shampoos, etc.so there are a lot of products in there. I like your tips about using baskets trays and things to keep them in.
