Some people worry that one of the worst things that could happen during their trip to Walt Disney World is rain. Some people save for years to be able to plan a fun Disney park vacation and they don’t want rain to spoil it. The good news is there are still plenty of things to do at Disney when it rains and the park is also designed with areas to help keep you out of the rain. Also, keep in mind that there is a difference between regular rain showers (which can happen at Disney during certain months) and a full-on lighting storm!
A lightning storm is dangerous, and rides will close and certain parts of the park will shut down until it passes. If it’s just rain, put on a hat or a poncho and keep going because the park won’t close!
What to Do at Disney when It Rains
Here are some things to do at Disney when it rains so your entire trip isn’t spoiled!
1. Take some time to ride the monorail.
You can see so many different things in the monorail resorts, go shopping at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa or at the Contemporary Resort, and you can even enjoy great places to eat. This can get you out of the rain for a bit and it should pass over.
2. Just keep going with your plans.
Seriously, most rains in Florida don’t last for very long and if you packed a hat or a poncho you can just put it on and keep going. A lot of people will drop out of lines during the rain, so this could be your chance to move up.
3. Go to Magic Kingdom, Future World at Epcot, or Disney Springs.
Both Magic Kingdom and Future World at Epcot have indoors areas and are great for rainy days. Go shopping or grab a bite to eat at Disney Springs. Skip over Animal Kingdom and World Showcase at Epcot during the rain because they have a lot of walking in open and exposed areas.
Now that you know what to do at Disney when it rains, you’ll be fully prepared if it rains during your trip!
It’s such a shame if it does rain whilst you’re at Disney, sure there are still things to do but it just isn’t the same.
Never thought of this, definitely fun at Disney under any type of weather
There is always plenty to do. Don’t let mother nature spoil a holiday!
I would love to ride the Monorail!
If it’s at a summer day the rain might be welcome to cool you down
It’s very true that if it does rain, it doesn’t often last long. We had a great time in March – despite a bit of rain, lots of the rides are indoors even!
