Snowman Paper Plate Craft

Creating a snowman paper plate craft is a fun and simple activity, especially suitable for preschoolers. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make a snowman using paper plates:

MATERIALS

  • 2 Paper plates
  • Popsicle stick
  • White and blue acrylic paint
  • 2 Paint brushes
  • Black and orange construction paper
  • Marker
  • Glue stick
  • Scissor
  • Double sided tap

How to make a Snowman Paper Plate Craft

Paint one whole paper plate with blue paint and let it dry.

Then make stars or snowflakes using a white paint.

On another paper plate, cut it in half. Then cut like a wave on the
half. Paint it white and make sure to paint both sides.

Assemble the snowman by cutting two small circles from cardboard and attach them together with glue stick.

Cut a hat and its hands from the black construction paper and put it at the top.

Draw the details of his nose with the black marker on the orange construction paper and cut it. Glue the hat, hands and nose to the snowman and draw the eyes, mouth and button with a black marker.

Attach a popsicle stick at the back of the snowman with a double sided tape or use glue stick.

Attach the two paper plates together using a glue stick and leave space that is not glued in the centre for the popsicle snowman.

Lastly, insert your snowman and make it move.

Snowman craft variations

If you’d like to add some extra elements or variations to your snowman paper plate craft, here are a few ideas:

Snowflake Decorations:

  • Instead of using paint, cut out small snowflakes from white paper and glue them around the snowman to create a snowy atmosphere.

Sparkly Snowman:

  • Add a touch of glitter or sequins to make your snowman sparkle. You can apply glue to certain areas and sprinkle glitter on it.

3D Snowman:

  • To make a more three-dimensional snowman, consider using cotton balls or white pom-poms to add a textured, snowy feel to the craft.

Button Collage:

  • Instead of cutting out buttons from black paper nor drawing them, consider using real small buttons of various colours. Glue them onto the snowman’s body for a tactile and textured effect.

Paper Plate Snow Globe:

  • Turn your snowman into a snow globe by cutting a circle of clear plastic or cellophane and gluing it over the paper plate. Add some extra snowflakes inside the globe for a magical touch.

Feel free to adapt these suggestions based on the age and preferences of the children involved, and let your creativity shine! The goal is to have fun and create a festive decoration to celebrate the winter season.
