Halloween Bloody Bone Cupcakes Recipe

The Halloween season is here and it’s time to get prepared. If you don’t like all the fear factors that come with Halloween, then this recipe might not be for you. If you like all the bloody and gory things about the season then this Halloween Bloody Bone Cupcakes recipe is just what you need to add to your creepy halloween treats.

There are many treats you can make for a scary Halloween party treats. First, you need to decide on what Halloween theme you are going for, scary or not so scary. Now that you have chosen the type of theme it is time to make a list. I visited the Bulk Barn recently and they have quite a bit of product to use. Even the pharmacy will have the perfect non-edible items to help you out.

Chocolate Halloween Cupcake

Making cupcakes is an easy and very creative way to add to your Halloween theme. While this recipe uses chocolate Halloween cupcake and has the bloody theme in the icing, however, if you wanted them to be a bit more bloody, try red velvet cake

Bloody Halloween Cupcakes 

This Halloween Bloody Bone Cupcakes recipe is not for the faint-hearted! How a little bit of red food colouring mix to some corn syrup can make it look like blood dripping. They make scary halloween cupcake toppers!

A homemade chocolate cupcake with a butter cream vanilla frosting and topped with a bloody gummy bone. This is the best halloween cupcake recipe to serve at a Halloween Party.

Ingredients for chocolate cupcake

  • 1 3/4 cup Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Cocoa
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • 1 Tbsp melted butter

Bloody Bone Cupcake Directions

Line the cupcake tins with paper liners. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine 1 cup of the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter and mix. Scoop a tablespoon of the graham cracker crumbs into the cupcake liner. Set aside.

Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

In a separate bowl add the eggs, whole milk, and oil.

Add the bowl containing the eggs, whole milk, oil, and vanilla to the bowl holding the dry ingredients. Mix all together until fully incorporated. Beat for 3 minutes on medium. Slowly add the boiling water starting with a small amount then pour in the remaining boiling water. The batter may be a little runny.

Scoop batter into cupcake lined cups until 3/4s filled. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Halloween cupcake icing: Ingredients for vanilla frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter
  • 3 cups powder sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla 
  • 3-5 Tbsp heavy whipping cream 
  • 2-3 drops of red food colouring
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 bag of gummy bones

How to decorate halloween cupcake

Combine all ingredients except the corn syrup and food colouring. Mix on medium speed until frosting doesn’t fall off a spoon. Place into a piping bag with a star tip and frost onto cooled cupcake.

In a small bowl, combine the corn syrup and the red food dye, mix until combined. 

Take a fork and dip it into the corn syrup, drizzle over the cupcakes for a blood effect. Place gummy bone on top.
