Adventure is beyond words, and can be breath taking on vacation trips you take that are the best road trips in the United States. “Get your motor running, head out on the highway, looking for adventure and whatever comes our way”, is a statement in itself! Steppenwolf, knew what they were talking about in this song, as there is no better way to explore the United States than a road trip.

1. Route 66

One of the greatest road trips of all times is the mother road, Route 66. The route originally ran from Chicago, Illinois through Missouri, and Kansas, and Oklahoma and Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Route 66 is one of the best road trips in the US! It was a major path for those people who migrated west in the dust bowl, in the 1930’s. In the 50’s this route was used for people who were heading to Los Angeles. Some of the signs are still up that are historic Route 66 signs. There is some great historic information on this trip. So, get your kicks on route 66 and enjoy!

2. Grand Canyon

A great road trip in the US is the Grand Canyon. You can be gazing at the Colorado River below, or watching the sunset in such beautiful areas, and this can be an inspiring trip. On the road trip, be sure to go to the South Rim.

You can enter the park on the east, and follow the winding road and you will see the scenic sight Mather Point and Yavapai Observation Station. These are very breath taking canyon views. There is a desert way to view the Grand Canyon at Tusayan Ruin which is 4,000 years old. They have so many sites to see here at the Grand Canyon and there is a visitor site as well. This is a wonderful road trip to make with so many natural wonders to see.

3. Yellowstone National Park

Another great road trip destination to make is to Yellowstone National Park. This park is located in Wyoming mainly with some of the park in Montana and Idaho. This park spans 3468 sq. miles. This was the first national park in the world. It has a very popular feature “Old Faithful Geyser”.

The land has lava flows and rocks covering most of it. There are lakes to see, canyons, rivers and beautiful mountain ranges. There are a lot of recreational activities you can do there like hiking, fishing, camping, and boating, and sightseeing. This is another beautiful sight to see with natural wonders that are breathtaking here as well.

4. Pacific Coast Highway

A Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) road trip is on of the best road trips to make in the United States. It’s a popular and scenic journey along the western coast of the United States. The PCH, also known as California State Route 1, runs along the coastline from the southern tip of California to the northern border of Oregon, offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and access to various attractions in Malibu, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and many more!

The PCH stretches for over 600 miles from Dana Point in Southern California to Leggett in Northern California. You can choose a segment of the highway to explore, or you can make it a comprehensive journey from south to north or vice versa.
