Festival of the Arts Event at Epcot, Walt Disney World

The most recent addition to the Epcot schedule of annual Festivals is the Festival of the Arts. This is a fun filled and unique exploration of art in its many forms and it’s a wonderful time to visit the park, because the weather is cooler and there are not quite as many crowds. Like the other festivals Epcot is famous for holding, Festival of the Arts has scattered mobile kitchens arranged all over, with special seasonal dishes, craft beers, and more. The dishes themselves celebrate art and in some cases imitate art and use styles of art as inspiration for plating

1. Artful Dishes at Festival of the Arts

At the Epcot Festival of the Arts, you can get a variety of tasty dishes artfully prepared. Some of them are very bold statements, such as the deconstructed Ruben which is very instagramable. You can also get frosted churros that look like paint covers brushes. You can even get a Pop Art Tart, which looks like a painted canvas on an easel. Everything is art themed, so even if the dish doesn’t call out a reference to painting or some other form of art, the plating is so carefully done as to make the plate a canvas and the food as visually pleasing as it is to the taste. Even craft beers are artsier with brews like #rainbowsherbertglitterdreamale. Yes, it actually contains glitter.

2. Interactive Festival of the Arts Exhibits

There is a lot to do at the Epcot Festival of the Arts besides eat great tasting and beautiful food! Exhibits around the park showcase various forms of art from living sculptures to Disney on Broadway songs performed live in the American Gardens Theatre. Photo locations are set up to place you inside famous paintings, and there are many workshops to attend as well. One fun way to make your mark at the festival is to join in on the paint by number Mural! If you are more ambitious, try ink floating, or designing a shirt.

3. Art Booths

In addition to the entertainment and the food, Festival of the Arts provides something extra… ART! Artists’ booths are set up in different areas of the park to sell their unique take on Disney characters, attractions, movies, and more. You can take in so many different styles and visions of Disney and buy a piece for yourself. You can buy art in other locations at Disney World, but here you may have a unique opportunity to see many kinds of Disney art and meet with the artists.
