5 Things to Do with Your Kids for Christmas

Are you looking to create Christmas memories and traditions with your children? There are a number of fun activities you can take part in as a family to make a great holiday experience! Whether you’re looking to pass the time while you wait for dinner, or trying to give the rest of the family something to do when you have family in town visiting, here are five suggestions to get you started!

Here are 5 things to do with your kids for Christmas:

1. Do an outdoor activity together. Whether you go to a farm to pick out a Christmas tree, hit the local ice skating rink, or go snow tubing together, the holiday season is a great time to take part in outdoor winter activities as a family.

2. Bake cookies together! Not only is baking a great way to teach your kids about measurements, but you’ll have so much fun baking and decorating together. Whether you’re baking cookies for Santa or your family, your kids are bound to have fun!

3. Go look at Christmas lights together. Your kids will love to drive or walk around the neighbourhood to see whose houses are lit up with colourful lights!

4. Watch a holiday movie together. Whether you decide to watch The Santa Clause or Home Alone, make some hot cocoa and enjoy a movie together!

5. Donate to someone in need. You might have your child pick out a toy to donate to Toys for Tots or donate to a local food bank. No matter the cause, your child will always remember their good deed.

These are just five things to do with your kids for Christmas, but don’t let the fun stop there. You can think of more ideas and other fun things that your children will enjoy doing and even consider making some of your own traditions.

Every year, we purchase a few new ornaments for our Christmas tree and this year was no exception! There are so many available at Hallmark Canada, that’s it was difficult to only bring back home a few, including their own signature ornament the 15th Anniversary Snowman, the Disney collection including 80th Snow White, BB8, Walt Disney and Mickey, and the Wallmart Exclusive Decoupage Ornaments!

My two favourite Hallmark Christmas products are:

the itty bittys Santa Christmas Countdown Calendar. It’s so soft, but also made of sturdy fabric which makes it look handcrafted. It contains 24 pockets to hold the itty bittys plush. It also includes the itty bittys Santa ($39.95).

and the Poinsettia Ball Blown Glass Ornament! This stunning, three-dimensional Christmas tree ornament brings bright winter blossoms to life. To create the beautiful work of art, artist Joanne Eschrich transformed rich watercolor florals into a free-flowing circle design. Artist Jim Kemme then sculpted the brilliant details to highlight the texture of the leaves, and the ornament comes alive in vibrant touches of red, green and ivory.
