Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels

These Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels are sure to hit the spot. With minimal preparation and very few ingredients you can have a yummy snack ready in no time. To make pinwheels, you will need tortillas, grated cheese, cream cheese, and the fillings of your choice.

Whether you are packing a lunch for work or for school or need a tasty appetizer for a gathering or party, these pinwheels will be a hit.

Pinwheels are a type of appetizer or snack that consist of a soft tortilla or flatbread., spread with a filling, rolled into a log shape, and sliced into rounds. They can be filled with a variety of ingredients including deli meat, cheese, vegetables, herbs, or spreads.

Pinwheels are often served at potlucks, parties, and other social gathering because they are easy to prepare and can be made in advance.

How to Make Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels

Once you have all the ingredients for your pinwheel sandwiches, you are ready to begin making them. Begin by spreading a layer if cream cheese on each tortilla. Next add some lettuce or spinach followed by the turkey and any other topping you chose finishing off with some grated cheese. Roll up the tortillas tightly and secure with a toothpick. Once they are rolled up you are ready to slice them. Place on a platter and serve.

Pinwheels with cream cheese

This pinwheel recipe uses cream cheese with honey and nuts, but you can simply add plain cream cheese, Summer Fresh Cranberry Pecan Cheese Spread, or your favourite cream cheese spread.

How Long are Pinwheels Good For

Pinwheels can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days before serving them. This way you save time on the day you need them.

Can you freeze pinwheels?

Yes, these turkey cheese pinwheels can be placed in the freezer. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Prepare pinwheels as you normally would and slice them into the rounds.
  2. Spread them out on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place baking sheet in freezer until they are firm.
  4. Remove from freezer and transfer to an airtight container.
  5. Label and date the container
  6. Simply pull out of the freezer and let thaw or heat up in the oven or microwave.

Turkey and cheese pinwheels

These finger food pinwheels area made with turkey, but you can use any type of meat that you like or even make a variety for the pinwheel sandwich plate.

Recipe for turkey and cheese pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 1 large tortilla
  • 4 tbsp. of cream cheese with nuts and honey (If you can’t find it ready made, you can add to 1 cup cream cheese with 1 tbsp honey and 2-4 tbsp of crushed pecans or walnuts)
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1/2 cup of grated carrots
  • 8-10 slices of smoked turkey
  • 8-10 slices of hard cheese or your favourite cheese like Swiss, Gouda, Havarti, and others.

How to make pinwheels

Spread the tortilla with cream cheese.

Spread the spinach leaves over the entire tortilla on top, leaving a small rim.

Then spread the hard cheese, occupying only the centre of the tortilla. On top of the cheese, add the grated carrots.

Next, spread the meat in the centre of the pinwheel.

Twist a tight roll, cut off the ends, cut the rest of the turkey cheese pinwheel into 4-6 pieces (or desired thickness).
