Different Things you can Clean with Lemon
Your Skin
Combine lemon juice, 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and a spoonful of honey to make a DIY exfoliator.
Are you aware that you can also use lemon juice to treat acne? Dab a cotton swab in lemon juice, then use it to any affected spot after cleaning your face. After 10 minutes, rinse with cold water. Do this every morning and at night.
Brass and Copper
Put any kind of salt on half a lemon and begin scrubbing. However, antiques may be tricky, so try on a tiny section first to ensure you don’t ruin anything.
Microwave
It is surprising how easy to remove even the toughest stains from your microwave with just a lemon and a bowl of water.
Split a lemon in half, then pour the juice into a basin half-filled with water. Then add the remainder of the lemon to the microwave-safe bowl and pop it in the microwave. Set the timer to 3-5 minutes and heat the mixture on the highest heat possible. Allow 5 minutes for the microwave to cool after it beeps. Then, take the bowl out of the oven and clean the inside with a microfiber towel. The steam will blend with the lemon oils and remove all the dirt build-up on the interior of the chamber, removing any unpleasant odours. It works perfectly, and no scrubbing is needed.
Cheese Grater
Cheese graters are great for shredding cheese but terrible for cleaning. Cheese shards become stuck everywhere, even after being through the dishwasher! Split a lemon in half, then grate the fleshy part of the lemon across both sides of the cheese grater for a simple method to clean it. Lemon oil and juice aid in reducing dairy fat and breaking up any proteins. After a brief rinse, you should notice that the lemon works wonders and prevents you from pulling your sponges apart!
Cotton and Polyester Clothes
To bleach white clothes and brighten the coloured ones, immerse cotton and polyester clothing in a 1/2 cup of lemon juice with a gallon of water. Allow the garments to soak for just an hour or maybe longer, based on how brightened they are, before drying them under the sun. If using a washing machine, you can use 1⁄2 cup of lemon juice instead of bleach.
Refrigerator
We’ve all heard of keeping baking soda inside the fridge to combat odours, but did you even know you can do the same thing with a lemon? It’s real! There are some options for doing so. You may either soak a cotton pad in lemon juice and store it in the fridge, keep a small dish of freshly squeezed lemon juice inside the refrigerator, or split a lemon in half and store it in a small bowl.
Replace it once a week or so, whatever way you choose. Otherwise, your fridge funk will be replaced by the scent of rotten lemon, which is not pleasant.
Cutting Board
When cleaning a cutting board, you need some coarse salt and lemon. Put salt over the whole cutting board surface, then give it a good scrub using a lemon cut in half. Scrub as vigorously as possible, and you’ll notice that food stains begin to fade. At the same time, you’ll deodorize your cutting board! Finish with a little coating of mineral oil to safeguard your board.
Soap Scum
There are various ways to get rid of soap scum in the shower, and one of the great solutions is to use lemon juice! Sponge the lemon juice over the dirty spot, or better yet, squeeze some lemon juice into a spray bottle and spray to a broader area. Allow a minute for the lemon juice to settle before wiping it off with a clean, wet towel. Soap scum won’t survive with the power of lemon’s acidity. Make sure not to use lemons on natural stone. This technique is also effective with glass shower doors and in the bathtub. Just clean off a bathtub with a half-lemon, rinse, then air dry.
Faucet
Nothing beats the beauty of a gleaming, streak-free faucet that shouts cleanliness. Whether your faucet is chrome, brass, or copper, there’s an easy method to make them gleam using lemon juice. It’s as simple as cutting a lemon in half, and that’s it! Rub the lemon’s juicy portion against the faucet, reaching into all corners and crevices where the acidic contents can cut through oil and release mineral deposits. Wipe everything away with a clean, dry microfiber towel to finish.
Toilet Bowl
There’s an excellent approach to getting rid of the toilet bowl ring with lemon juice and salt only. You’ll need half a lemon to squeeze into the mixing bowl. After that, add some salt and scrape the bowl well with your toilet brush. Put baking soda or borax into the mix for even more stain-fighting power! If you are courageous enough, put on your cleaning glove, then scrape the bowl beneath the rim with salt or baking soda and the juicy part of that half lemon. It works perfectly!
Glass and Mirrors
We do have a glass and mirror DIY cleaner for people who can’t bear the scent of vinegar. Pour roughly a cup of water into a spray bottle with around 3 tbsp of lemon juice. Next, shake the container, then spray your mirror with it. After that, wipe it away with a clean microfibre towel. Use this solution as soon as possible because lemon juice will get rancid after a few weeks.
Tea Kettle
If you’re a huge kettle user like me, here’s how to descale your kettle quickly – Combine 2 tbsp of lemon juice with 2 cups of water in your kettle. Bring to a boil, then set aside to cool. Empty the kettle, then give it a couple of thorough rinses, and the kettle should be sparkling and clean once more!
Jewelry
You can sanitize your jewelry with lemon juice. Combine 1 tbsp of lemon juice with 2 cups of water. Do not use this mixture with your gold and pearl accessories.
Plastic Food Containers
Rub lemon in your food containers or rinse them with lemon juice if they smell. Put on lemon juice with baking soda to stubborn stains and leave overnight.
Clogged Drain
Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on your clogged drain, then pour 12 oz of lemon juice. The chemical reaction will make the components turn into foam. Pour boiling water over the foam, and the clog will disappear.
Paint Brush
Have a problem removing the hardened paint on your paintbrush? Just put lemon juice on a microwavable dish and bring it to boil to soften stiffened paint brushes for your next painting session. Remove the brush from the microwave and soak the bristles. Wait for about 15 minutes of soak time before washing in soapy water.
Insect Repellent
Ants, termites, and fleas have strong nasal capabilities, and they dislike the scent of lemon. To keep these insects out, spray lemon juice or lay pieces of lemon peel around window sills, door steps, and baseboards.
Air Freshener
Cooked fish, paint fumes, and litter boxes can contribute to a home’s unpleasant odour. Put a couple of slices of lemon into a pot of water to make a natural air freshener. Cook for approximately an hour, and your house will smell wonderful.
Garbage Disposal
When you’re done with the lemon, wipe off the garbage disposal with lemon peels or any leftovers for all of these other amazing things.
Cleaning garbage disposal with lemon is a 2-in-1 solution! Lemons can freshen up and deodorizes your garbage disposal in no time.
Save those extra rinds and juice since we enjoy lemons for their delicious smell and antibacterial capabilities. Always remember, it’s only a peel away from a cleaner house!
