Fun Times at Kids And Company Birthday Party

I can’t quite believe my son is already turning 3 years old, the time has just gone by so very quickly and the old adage that when it comes to raising children “the days are long but the years are short” is so true and just a touch bittersweet. When I asked my little boy how he wanted to celebrate his birthday he answered “balloons, fun and friends” and on that front Kids and Company in Westboro had us more than covered.

We invited 8 of his little friends to share the special day and requested a Paw Patrol theme, as he is obsessed with Ryder and his gang of pups.

But apart from sending out the invites and picking a party theme, I didn’t have to lift a finger, the party planners at Kids and Company took care of everything, games, toys, food and drink, decorations, even the cake, every aspect was organised and the result was a room full of very happy kids.

They also had loot bags, colouring and craft stations and gave out little bracelets that my son collected and wore up to his elbow!

It was so reassuring to know that Kids and Company offer a variety of nut-free snacks and are able to look after a range of dietary requirements, intolerances and allergies.

All the staff are also trained in CPR and first aid which offers such peace of mind when you have a bunch of little daredevils careening all around the room at high speed.

We had our party at the Westboro location but Kids and Company actually has venues all across Canada and specifically in Ottawa at these locations: Eagleson, Kanata, and on Albert.

The space on McRae in Westboro is large, clean and colourful, with wooden cubbies for the children’s belongings and spacious rooms filled with everything a pint-sized party-goer could dream of!

My son was so excited to see all the Paw Patrol decorations and balloons and kept double checking with me “this is my party, right mommy?”

One of the highlights that proved popular with our preschool age kids was a roadway, complete with stop signs and traffic lights that the children could drive their ride on toys around. My son took to just knocking them all down as he yelled “timber” but he still had fun!

There were also things for younger siblings to climb on and discover and some more sophisticated smaller toys available for older siblings.

The party room space is really open and large which allowed all the children to run around like loons burning off their excitement and giggles.

The staff were incredibly friendly, great with the kids and encouraged play and games allowing the parents to have a chat and catch up.

When it was time for our party lunch the children were treated to sandwiches and cookies and then it was time for the birthday cake to come out, the cake was really beautiful and my son loved it, although he didn’t quite understand the concept of blowing out his candles despite his little friend’s instructions.

The party lasted just over 90 minutes which was the perfect length, resulting in worn out kids ready for bed.

My favourite part about hosting our son’s birthday party at Kids and Company is that it was a totally hands off, no hassle occasion for me. I seem to be chief organiser of everything in my little world, like most moms and it was really refreshing to have someone else take care of all the details so that I could just enjoy the party for once.

My son had an amazing birthday party and really enjoyed himself, he even asked the next day if he could return to his party, sorry kid, you’ll have to wait until next year!

  1. I especially loved the part where your son asked the next day if he could return to his party – I’d say you can mark the party down as a huge success. 🙂

  2. My godson has his party at Kids & Co too in Calgary and he loved it! All his little buddies had a good time too… And Mom and Dad loved that it was handled by third parties (so less work for them).
