Five Easy Tips for Beating the Winter Blues!

With February just around the corner, and the excitement and buzz from the holiday season now long gone, it’s easy to start feeling the “Winter blahs” from our dreadful Canadian winters! You will find below easy tips for beating the Winter blues!

All this snow, sudden (and unwanted) temperature changes, and ice, combined with shorter days and some that feel like they never end, it’s easier than ever to feel your energy depleting. Blah! While hiding under the comfort of a warm blanket, with a warm cup of hot chocolate next to a fireplace can seem like the perfect at-home winter escape, everyone has their own ways of uplifting themselves to stay ahead.

Five Easy Tips for Beating the Winter Blahs!

1. Don’t forget the importance of your nutrition

Staying healthy is so important to staying happy! It is hard to stay energized and at our best If our body is not getting the vitamins it needs. I find it can be challenging to consistently get the vitamins I need on a daily basis, so I use a multivitamin to fill in the gaps. One a Day® Gummies helps with this, plus I look forward to the delicious taste of the gummy every day. Don’t forget about the kids, they can have the winter blahs too! FLINTSTONES Active Kids® Gummies can help bridge dietary gaps as a source of vitamins and minerals in a convenient and tasty gummy, and are great for picky eaters.

2. Get moving!

I personally find there’s nothing more energizing when those blues hit than to pick up my water bottle, gym bag, and head on over to the gym! A good workout significantly improves my mood and gives me the surge of energy I need to tackle on the rest of the day. Burning off the last of those holiday calories is also a helpful bonus! Don’t let winter be an excuse to cut back on your exercise routine!

3. Keep nasal cold symptoms away

Does anyone else feel like they always have at least a BIT of a cold this time of year? There’s nothing worse than walking around with a stuffed or runny nose. I like to use hydraSense® Daily Nasal Care, made with 100% naturally-sourced sea water, to alleviate these nasal cold symptoms. It’s effective at relieving nasal congestion, making it easier to breathe, so you can stop being the friend or coworker who sniffles all day

4. If you’re stuck inside because the weather is so horrible, why not take the time to wind down and read a good book?

Not only is it a great distraction and temporary escape from the busy world around us, but I personally think that there’s no better feeling nothing to the thrill you get when you’re so immersed into a story you can’t bare to put the book down! With so many genres to choose from, there’s bound to be a book out there that will capture your interest(s)!

Listen to upbeat music that makes you happy

It sounds easy, but I often forget how much music can change my mood and make a dark, cold day a little bit more cheerful. Music has been linked to improvements in mood and decreased anxiety when you listen to tunes that make you happy on a regular basis. That’s reason enough for me!

What are some of the little things you do to stay positive? Do you find it a challenge at this time of year?
