Some people are prone to getting them more often and if you fall into this camp, you might feel like you’ve already tried everything to treat or prevent your headaches or migraines. There are many reasons why we may suffer from headaches. Stress, illness, heat, high blood pressure just to name a few. If you find yourself suffering from headaches or migraines you probably know that you can take prescription or over the counter medications to treat them, you also know that those have their own list of side effects that may be worse than a headache. So, how can you get relief naturally? Essential oils are a great way to naturally treat your headache and migraine.

Stress Headaches

Stress is a major trigger for headaches. The best solution for stress is being able to relax enough to sleep away the headache. Lavender and peppermint oils can help relax you and relieve a stress headache quickly.

Sinus Headaches

A sinus headache can be brought on by changes in the weather, seasonal allergies or a cold or sinus infection. Eucalyptus oil is great for relieving sinus headaches.

How to Use Oils

You can add a few drops of the essential oils of choice to a bath, place them in a diffuser or apply them topically (mixed with a carrier oil) to temples, back of the neck, forehead, and wrists.

Using essential oils to treat a variety of headaches and migraines is a natural way to feel your best and head off what could be a severe headache at the first twinge without harsh side effects.

  1. I suffer from really bad headaches, but luckily I only get them maybe twice a year. I have never tried essential oils but I do have lavender oil and will try next time.
