Scrub-a-dub-dub!

One of the best ways to become sick is by contracting germs. This can be so easy to do. Germs linger EVERYWHERE! These grubby “friends” lounge on door knobs. They hang out on table tops. They linger on light switches, sink faucets, and hand rails. Staying healthy can be hard to so, especially during cold and flu season when germs are waiting to invade our bodies to make us sick.

How to we avoid contracting a cough and colds when germs are lying in wait to be ingested? With the magic combination of soap and water! Thorough and frequent hand washing with soap and warm water (for at least 15 seconds) helps to remove the majority of germs we pick up from touching normal everyday objects.

Catch enough zzzzs

Getting enough zzzzs is important for everyone in your family to have. Having enough time to shut your body down allows for it to recharge and repair itself for a new day of challenges. With most of your body in a period of rest, your immune system has the power to work to fight off any germs that have infected your body. This will keep you feeling healthy and ready to go during cold and flu season.

Have a helping hand

Taking something extra can help to strengthen your family’s immune system, especially during cold season. Many people use Echinacea in herbal medicine to keep your immune system health working well. Thyme is also used in to relieve the body when it is not feeling well. It helps to ease coughs and bronchitis. Thyme also aids in gastrointestinal discomforts like flatulence and colic.

Fowler’s® Relief Echinacea with Thyme combines both of these healing elements to help keep cough and colds at bay. Their concentrated liquid tincture contains a higher potency than other formulations. This liquid tincture is also easier to swallow than tablets and capsules. It takes only four minutes for the body to absorb a liquid extract. Capsules and tablets take the body up to thirty minutes to absorb.

Another great feature about taking a liquid supplement is its longer shelf life. Did you know that liquid extracts usually are not as affected by heat and humidity than capsules and tablets? This makes it easier to keep around your home.

A liquid extract is also simpler to take. Families can easily adjust the dosage for each member of the family with a liquid, where you would have to be more careful with capsules and tablets. Swallowing medication can also be an issue, especially for younger members of the family. Capsules and tablets can be a bit uncomfortable for younger users. A liquid extract can easily be added to juice during your family’s breakfast to drink. All of these features can help getting through cold season easier for your family.

Reduce stress

Stress. It can show up in so many different ways in our life. When a lot of stress is put on you, it can affect how well your immune system works. This can allow for colds to invade your body. About the Author ()

My name is Lian Wright. Born in Toronto, I came to Ottawa as a student to study Political Science at Carleton University, and came away with an Honours Degree, and decided to stay. I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me!
