  • 1 Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Potatoes About 6 new potatoes
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Paprika

Instructions
 

  • Gather all the ingredients. Peel the potatoes and the onions, then cut the onions into thin rings and the potatoes into thin circles.
  • In a bowl, soak the potatoes for 10 minutes in salted water. After, drain the water, dry the potatoes with a paper towel.
  • Heat a frying the pan and melt the butter and add the vegetable oil and potatoes with onions.
  • Fry in potatoes and onions until crispy and remove from pan.
  • Put them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • When serving this side dish, sprinkle with paprika, pepper and salt.

Notes

RECIPE TIP: SOAK YOUR POTATOES BEFORE FRYING
One of the instructions for this recipe asks you to soak the potato slices before frying them. Why is it important to perform this task? After making this dish many times, I have found that potatoes that had been soaked before being fried ended up being crispier then if this step was skipped. The reason behind this is that the starch found in potatoes prevents a good crisp from forming.
