Canada is one of the few countries that is fun all year round. No matter the weather, there is always something to do that will make any family vacation a success.
The seasons in Canada all bring their own fun activities and traditions. Spring tends to be all about new growth and appreciating the beautiful nature the country has to offer. Summer calls for fun adventures, exploring the area and soaking up the sun. Fall, of course, brings the harvest months, Halloween and fabulous festivals for you to enjoy. Winter, perhaps one of the more popular months, brings all the snow and fantastic winter carnivals.
There’s something for everyone all year round, so no matter what time of year you go, you’re bound to enjoy yourself and find plenty of things to do with the whole family.
Here are our top activities to do during the different seasons:
Spring Family Vacation
Ottawa Tulips Festival
With spring come the new flowers and blossoms. The country is covered in a variety of different colours and various species of flora, including tulips. The famous Ottawa Tulips Festival boasts over a million blooms of various tulip species, making it the largest tulip festival in the world.
Travel down to Commissioners Park or along the Rideau Canal for the best selection and sightings. This is truly a nature lover’s paradise.
Experience Spring Heli-Skiing in Canadian Monashee Mountains
Skiing in Spring? Sounds optimistic but in Canada that isn’t the case as the snow stays intact and powdery right through until the springtime. The Monashee Mountains are the perfect spot in British Columbia for any outdoor lover looking for an adventure. The fantastic alpine terrain and gorgeous panoramic views make for an unforgettable skiing experience.
Heli-skiing is for the brave few who want to see the best view and ski down the mountain while taking it in. Take a magical helicopter ride to the top and jump off for the best skiing experience of your life.

Taking a train trip is the perfect way to see as much of the area as possible. Hop on the 3-day train journey from Vancouver to Toronto, stopping off in Jasper and Winnipeg along the way. You’ll be exposed to delicious food throughout your journey at this novel moving hotel.
The kids will love it, and it’s the perfect way for parents to treat themselves to luxury while travelling en-famille.
Fall Family Vacation
Travel to the little farm in Alberta known as Calgary Farmland. Have fun getting lost in their 11-Acre corn maze, and reward yourselves if you do manage to make your way out again.
A visit to the corn maze is another excellent way to keep the kids busy and tire them out for the car ride home.

This Canadian staple is a must for anyone visiting Canada in the fall. Choose one of the many farms offering the service and let the kids explore the petting zoo, corn maze, pumpkin patches and various food stalls. This outing is both affordable and fun for the whole family!

Go Dog Sledding
Mush! Mush! Directing your team of Alaskan huskies through the winter wonderland of Canada is an unforgettable experience. If you’d like to know what it feels like to drive your own sleigh of dogs, visit Valemount in British Columbia, where the tradition is still alive.
Just outside of Banff National Park sits the quaint mountain town known as Canmore. Stay at one of the beautiful ski resorts where you can enjoy a spot of skiing, or snowboarding, as well as the winter markets and festivals. The Canmore Winter Carnival takes place during February and provides visitors with plenty of activities and fun. Try your hand at skating or the local log-sawing competition.
