Apple crisp with oats is a favourite recipe to make at the start of fall! It is an apple dessert that is easy to prepare in mini jars.

Equipment

  • 6 small Mason Jars
  • 1 Knife
  • 2 bowls

Ingredients
  

APPLE CRISP INGREDIENTS

  • 12 Apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2.5 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

CRUMBLE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups oat flakes
  • 3 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2 tbsp butter room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Prepare all the ingredients.
  • Wash the apples. On a cutting board, remove the core and peel skin of the apples. Cut the apples into cubes.
  • In a bowl, mix apples with sugar with a spoon. After, add flour and cinnamon, and mix again.
  • Separate the apple mixture evenly in 4 Mason jars and press with a spoon to compact it.
  • In a bowl, add the crumble ingredients and mix into crumbs.
  • Place the jars on a baking sheet. Preheat oven at 190 C degrees or 375 F degrees and bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown at the top and you can see the bubbles through the sides of the jars.
  • Cool the mini apple crisp in a jar for about 10 minutes and serve warm.

Notes

Fruit substitution

You may substitute the apples for peaches, berries, or pears.

BEST APPLES FOR APPLE CRISPS

Granny SmithGolden Delicious, and Honeycrisp apples are good choices to use in an apple crisp recipe.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream (optional).
