Equipment

  • 2 knives
  • 1 Plate or board

Ingredients

  • 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Sliced
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 16 Basil Leaves and for decorations
  • 4 tbsp Balsamic Glaze or to taste
  • 16 Crackers

Instructions

  • Start by selecting ripe red tomatoes. It’s important to choose tomatoes that are firm yet juicy for optimal flavour.
  • Wash and dry the tomatoes, then wash and dry the fresh basil leaves.
  • Slice the tomatoes into thin slices. Cut the fresh mozzarella cheese into slices of similar thickness as the tomatoes.
  • Start at the top end of the candy cane shape and create the candy cane stripes by alternating a slice of mozzarella with a slice of tomato until you get a candy cane shape.
  • Place fresh basil leaves around the candy cane or add them in between the tomato and the mozzarella slice.
  • Serve with balsamic and crackers or drizzle the balsamic glaze over the the salad.

Notes

NOTES:
1. Feel free to get creative with the arrangement, and adapt the quantities based on the number of servings you need.
2. You can also add a sprinkle of salt, black pepper, or a dash of olive oil for extra flavour.
