From the moment we welcomed our youngest member to our family, I was able to feel an instant connection to him. Once he was placed on my chest, our little guy’s ear was pressed to my chest. He could listen to my heart beating and was instinctively more at ease.

Huggies Sound of a Hug App
Huggies wants moms to have this same experience with their new bundles of joy. They are turning the sound of a mother’s hug into calming sleep tracks for their babies with their FREE Huggies Sound of a Hug online tool! Huggies asked my family to create a custom sleep track on this online tool and play it for my little guy with the help of an Amazon Alexa Echo to see if it helped to bring some of the comfort of my hug. We were curious to see how it worked and how well it does at setting the right mood for sleep.
The Importance of a Mother’s Hug

For me, a mother’s hug lasts long after the moment I met my little one. While my son was still “on the way” I discovered some interesting information about how important this simple embrace can be to a child.
I found out that a mother’s heartbeat has a calming effect on babies and aids in their development. This is due to several factors:
- Familiarity: During pregnancy, babies become accustomed to the constant sound of their mother’s heartbeat. This rhythmic sound provides a sense of security and comfort, as it is one of the most consistent and familiar sounds they experience in the womb.
- Stress Reduction: The familiarity of the mother’s heartbeat can reduce stress and anxiety in babies. Lower stress levels can contribute to better emotional and psychological development.
- Regulation of Biological Rhythms: The rhythmic pattern of the heartbeat can help regulate the baby’s own biological rhythms, including sleep patterns and heart rate. This regulation can promote healthier development and a more stable daily routine.
- Bonding and Attachment: The sound of the mother’s heartbeat during cuddling or breastfeeding strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. This bond is crucial for the baby’s emotional and social development.
- Association with Safety: The sound of the mother’s heartbeat is associated with safety and well-being. After birth, hearing this sound continues to provide reassurance and a feeling of being protected, helping to soothe and calm the baby. These factors together make the sound of a mother’s heartbeat a powerful tool for calming babies and supporting their overall development.
How to keep the warmth of a mother’s hug after birth
I love hugging my babies (big and small)! Not only do cuddles soothe my children, but they also made me feel at peace to have them close.
This is the feeling Huggies Sound of a Hug wants to bring to little ones when they need to feel at ease. To create a track, moms can input their heart rate and answer a few questions about their babies’ mood to create a unique sleep track for their baby. The sounds played by the track aim to soothe a baby and aid in its development.

My Thoughts on Huggies Sound of a Hug
My son and I enjoy using Huggies Sound of a Hug. It was extremely user-friendly & I was able to create a track and play it on my Alexa within minutes!
There are 5 different base tracks for moms to choose from on this website. This allows for over 50,000 possible tracks that can be created to the warmth of a hug from a mom to her child.
When I wanted to set the mood for a nap, I would ask Alexa to play a track based on how he is acting. When it is nap time, my son grabs his blanket, sits on the couch, and gets ready to relax. Once Alexa started playing a track, he would wiggle himself into a comfy position and fall asleep.

Things I’d Like to See in Future Updates
I discovered a few items I would like to see in future updates after I reviewed this online tool.
Firstly, I had to repeat myself a few times to Alexa or reboot the device to hear the sleep track.
Secondly, I thought this website would be using my actual heartbeat to create this sleep track. It is an approximation based on what you set on the website. Maybe this can be integrated in the future by syncing a smart device that can capture my actual heart rate. I think this idea could create a more personal experience.
Conclusion
Overall, the Huggies Sound of a Hug online tool is an interesting website to use! I like the ideas of using the calming power of a mother’s heart rate to help babies go to sleep. Moms need an abundance of support, especially during the first year of motherhood. The Huggies Sound of a Hug online tool is a fabulous support for moms to use to lovingly help a child rest.
