Being Human

by Tammy Plunkett

It was a lifelong dream for Ottawa resident Tammy Plunkett to be a published author. Plunkett, a resident of Barrhaven, has overcome childhood abuse and neglect. That, however, did not stop her from focusing her career on helping others. Plunkett worked as a registered nurse for the Ottawa Hospital then left the profession to focus on her children. She has since continued to help others through wellness consulting, workshops and Plunkett just released her first book Being Human: Inspiration for Balancing Mind Body and Spirit.

“There is something inside of me that will not allow the trauma of my past to serve no purpose,” said Plunkett. “I refuse to believe that I went through all of that for nothing.” Now living in Barrhaven, Plunkett is a highly recommended and sought after speaker at both local family focused events and motivational seminars across North America. On Wednesday, April 10, she spoke on Finding Peace in Everyday Chaos as part of the Oprah in Ottawa celebrations – Live Your Best Day event.

Being Human is about finding a balance between our basic drives and higher selves. It’s about making spiritual choices in a physical form. I have purposefully written Being Human for the everyday person, so that we don’t all have to join a Zen monastery to find peace.” said Plunkett.
