This being my first post, I was having some difficulty choosing a topic to write about. Then my journey into choosing a daycare came to mind! Like most things related to parenting—you just want to do the right thing.
I have been very fortunate to be able to stay home with kiddo for the past 16 months. A gift I am very thankful for! However, I will be joining the working world again in August and have begun a search for a daycare. As this is my first time daycare hunting, I began by asking myself what it is that I am looking for in a daycare. First and foremost, I am hoping for a caring environment for kiddo (loving care givers). Secondly I am looking for a convenient location (not out of the way), and thirdly all this care for a good price (nothing that will my cost me an arm and a leg). What else should I consider? Big thank you to anyone who has something to share!
As I work on the Quebec side, I have looked into a daycare close to my workplace. I was surprised at the price difference—about twenty dollars a day! The bonus of choosing a daycare in Quebec is that kiddo is exposed to speaking French (Papa is francophone). Unfortunately the daycare we had in mind has told us that they actually do not have an available space (this promptly evoked panic in both my husband and I). But all may not be lost, it looks like we may have another daycare lined up!
I am taking some comfort in the feeling that Kiddo is ready for daycare. He enjoys others kids and loves watching and interacting with them. He loves visiting the local Ontario Early Years Centre and checking out the discovery tables. Also, I am actually looking forward to returning to work, believe it or not. So, I guess we may both be ready! I will let you know how it goes in future posts. Wish me luck!
