A Magical Family Show Coming to Ottawa this Spring (Tickets Giveaway)

Spring is here and although the weather hasn’t received the memo yet, Ottawa will soon be blooming. There are thousands of things to do during this season in the capital and it’s often difficult to find activities that are appropriate for children.

If you’re looking for a young audiences play that blends dance and poetry that will make you and your little ones dream, the Alliance Française Ottawa is your friend! This May 27th, their cultural centre is pleased to offer you two performances of The Ruffled Forest.

The Ruffled Forest

The Ruffled Forest is about Racine, a little boy like no other, who has a forest growing on his head that no one has noticed. Fleeing his hostile grandmother and his mocking friends, he runs to take refuge in his forest. It’s then the beginning of a frantic race, causing an extraordinary series of metamorphoses. Helped in his adventures by his faithful friend Meï, he will gradually grow up and learn to overcome his fears to better connect with himself and others.

Through this initiatory journey, the choreographers depict with grace and gentleness the world of childhood, the difficulty and pleasure of growing up. The choreographers’ universe is intertwined with the singular imagination of Mélusine Thiry, author, illustrator, and video artist. The scenography device and the videos, allow a poetic journey between virtual images and moving bodies, for an immersion of the spectator in a sensitive and singular world.

If you want to expose your children, your nieces or nephews, your godchildren, or your grandchildren to the French language, introduce them to theatre or just spend a magical moment with them, The Ruffled Forest is the perfect activity for you this spring!
