The Body Shop Glazed Apple Collection Review and Giveaway ~ CAN 01/05

When I first learned I was reviewing the limited edition “Glazed Apple” collection from The Body Shop, I was eager to find out how the apple scent would translate into bath & body products. I was ready to try something new, changing from the typical musky scent to a more light scent that smells pleasing to most. To me, apple seemed like an interesting scent to test out. Familiar and full of memories made from my childhood. It also fits well into the holiday season as we move from fall to winter. I was provided five items from the product line to review.

Glazed Apple Body & Room Spray, 100 mL

*With Community Fair Trade honey

This spray has a light fragrance, slightly sweet, but not overpowering. It leaves a lingering scent of green apple in the air. Feel like a long-lasting scent throughout the day? You can wear this spray as a body mist, too. I tend to spray items like this in the air and then walk through it. It only leaves a subtle scent on you, but you are aware of it.

Glazed Apple Lip Balm, 20 mL

*Enriched with Community Fair Trade beeswax

I love the size of this lip balm; it’s not too small yet thin enough to fit into a clutch, which is what I carry everyday. Compact, though it won’t disappear into the depths of my purse when I carry one either. The balm itself is the colour of a green apple, though it glides on nice and sheer. I really liked how it gave only a slight sheen to my lips, but basically looked like I wasn’t wearing anything. I appreciated that the balm was not gloopy and threaten to pull strands of hair into my mouth.

Glazed Apple Bath Jelly, 250 mL

*Enriched with Community Fair Trade honey

This item was the only product I received that I had never tried before and wasn’t sure what to expect. It smelled delightfully like tart green apples and I couldn’t stop smelling the jar every time I opened it. It looks like jelly and has a slight sticky quality to it. Upon hitting the water, sudsy bubbles form to soften and smooth your skin. Basically, it’s like a grown-up bubble bath.

Glazed Apple Hand Cream, 30 mL

*Enriched with Community Fair Trade shea butter

A lovely combination of tart and sweet apple. The hand cream goes on very smoothly and left my hands feeling like silk. The moisturization lasted for hours, and I can see this being a car staple for the long, winter months. I only needed a pea sized amount to moisturize my hands, and used a small amounts on drier areas that need more work.

Glazed Apple Body Butter, 200 mL

*Includes apple seed oil Community Fair Trade shea butter from Ghana

One of my favourite products from The Body Shop, I’ve always liked this rich body cream. The size of the container will last a long time, as the lotion is so thick and luxurious you don’t need to use much to get the desired effect. I use this body butter as a quick hand lotion when needed, but it really performs well when rubbed into larger areas, such as on your back. I’ve found it to be very effective for relieving itchiness and is a nice cream to have massaged into your body.

While I received individual items for the sake of the review, you can purchase the Apple Glazed collection in unique gift sets. I also love that these holiday editions, including the Glazed Apple Treats Gift Cube, highlights that The Body Shop is teaming up with War Child, the global charity for children affected by war.

The purchase of certain gifts – including this one – will provide a class to a child in a war-torn country. One gift = one class. The Body Shop is aiming to provide over 6 million lessons in war-torn areas through this initiative. So buying a gift also gives the gift of education to a child who needs it.

Happy shopping and Happy Holidays!
