Stop Diaper Blowouts and Night Time Soakers with Melzy Baby! #Review and #HolidayGiveaway ~ CAN 12/08

| November 12, 2013 | 17 Comments

Diaper blowouts. Every mother knows what I am talking about. Poo in the diaper and up your baby’s back.

If you’re lucky, it happens at home close to your change table and bathtub. If you aren’t lucky, it happens at playgroup and you have to juggle your dirty baby, a messy diaper and a handful of dirty clothes on a changing station in a public bathroom. You have a pretty funky smelling diaper bag by the time you get home too. Fun, yes?

Melzy Baby’s Blowout Blockers come in a variety of colours. Picture courtesy of Melzy Baby.

The Blowout Blocker by Melzy Baby can’t stop the blowout because, well, poo happens. What it can do is reduce the mess caused by the infamous diaper blowout and make changing your baby easier. Best of all – your baby’s clothes stay clean. The Blowout Blocker extends your clothe or disposable diaper farther up the back of your baby. It is made of soft materials and held on with Velcro closures. The Blowout Blocker is very simple to use.

The Blowout Blocker’s companion product is the Soaker Stopper. The soft side of this diaper extender is on your baby’s belly. It is designed to prevent leaks from the top of the diaper during sleep to wake your baby. Once again, it can be used along with clothe or disposable diapers.

I was provided with these items by Melzy Baby to review along with a small-sized wet bag.

Babies, it seems, are like watched pots that don’t boil. My daughter didn’t have a single super soaker diaper or a blowout during the time I was testing the diaper extenders. However, I can tell you that my husband was keen on the idea. “I would put these on her every night to stop a leaky diaper,” he told me. He doesn’t like to go through a lot of extra effort when it comes to diaper changes, especially in the middle of the night. For him to be willing to add an extra step is quite an impressive testimonial for the product!

My daughter was completely happy to wear both the Blowout Blocker and the Soaker Stopper. She didn’t notice them at all once on. The materials were soft and the product was well-made. I did find that the bottom edge of the diaper extenders would ride up over the top of the diaper now and then. This might affect the effectiveness of the product when a blowout or soaker strikes.

The smallish wet bag was large enough to hold several dry Blowout Blockers and Soaker Stoppers and it would be easy to get a messy or wet one of these products into the bag without too much effort. I threw the wet bag into my diaper bag switched between using it coral my wayward phone and for holding a pouch of baby food and spoon.

The Blowout Blockers are $12.99 CDN and the Soaker Stopper is $13.99 CDN. Both are available on Melzy Baby.
