Stocking Stuffer Ideas Under $20 at Mastermind Toys #Review #Giveaway ~ CAN 01/12

| December 23, 2014 | 89 Comments

We are almost there! It is the home stretch until Christmas Day, and some parents (including myself) are still scrambling to get everything together in time. One of the things on my Christmas To-Do List is to help the Big Guy in Red out with items to fill my children’s stockings. Sure, candy and toothbrushes will be in there, but what about some fun items they can play with as well? At our home, stockings are the first thing we open on Christmas Day, then we eat breakfast before opening presents, and with three anxious kids who are ready to rip open presents, it takes a lot to keep them out of our hair to try and convince us to let them open presents right after their stockings. That is why it is great that Mastermind Toys has a Top 20 Under $20 List for small gifts that will help to keep our children entertained until we open presents. From this list, I received the following items:
• Tony Hawk’s Hexbug Circuit Boards RC Skateboards 2-Pack (Ages 8+)
• Scentco Smash Drive Ages (4+)
• 3D Dream Car Puzzle (Ages 8+)
• The Usborne Pocket Christmas Doodling & Colouring Book (Ages 6+)

For kids who are skateboard enthusiasts, Tony Hawk’s Hexbug Circuit Boards RC Skateboards 2-Pack is a great toy to add to their sticking this year! Since the big and small kids are all skateboard lovers, this toy was a huge hit! They performed fun tricks that they would not try on their own boards. With the remote controlled skateboard axels, our eldest was able to have the skateboard zoom across our living room, much to the delight of our younger two! They were trying to run and catch this skateboard, squealing the whole time they were playing with it! There is also a turbo boost feature which allows for the skateboard to climb ramps. The remote controls feature two channels so you can race you friends! My other half is going to order another one for himself!

Our eldest is always borrowing our flash drives to take work that she has done at home to finish at school, so I thought that the Scentco Smash Drive would be a perfect gift for her stocking! Each flash drive holds 4GB of data and can be used with Mac or PC. There is also a key chain so your child can attach it to a bag or their keying so they will not forget it after they have used it! One of our favourite features is that all of these flash drives are scented! I think we received the best scent: Cupcake! You can smell it as soon as you open the package. The scent is also guaranteed to keep its scent for two years! Our daughter cannot wait to use this flash drive for school in the New Year!

The 3D Dream Car Puzzle will definitely keep your child occupied! This puzzle may only have 64 pieces, but it was a bit of a challenge for us to put together and it keep our children’s attention for almost a good hour while building it! There are five cars to choose from in this series of puzzles. We received the Mimi Cooper. My advice to make the build a bit easier: Put the numbered pieces in groups (i.e. – 10s, 20s, etc) before putting together. That way, when you are following the instructions to put it together, it is easier to find the pieces you need! There is also an order in which the pieces have to be placed together in order to build the car properly. My kids loved this puzzle, though, at times, their patience was tested. It is a cute car that my kids can play with and have fun dismantling and rebuilding over and over again!

Car Collage

My daughters also loved The Usborne Pocket Christmas Doodling & Colouring Book! It is page after page of different pictures and pattern for kids to add either colour, faces, shapes or doodles to. There are pages that also feature Christmas and winter-themed pages such as snowflakes, ice skaters, reindeer and penguins to doodle. There are also stockings, decorations and baubles that kids can colour in. Our youngest spent about a half an hour putting her mark on this book, and she loved the work that she created.

Any one of these items would make kids big or small very happy come Christmas morning if they were found inside of their stockings! They are all fun, engaging, and can be used over and over again, so the fun does not have to end first thing Christmas morning!

My name is Lian Wright. Born in Toronto, I came to Ottawa as a student to study Political Science at Carleton University, and came away with an Honours Degree, and decided to stay. I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me!
