Sing Like Nobody’s Listening!

| February 28, 2014 | 10 Comments

My friend has this saying on her bathroom wall:

Sing Like Nobody’s Listening!

What a fabulous quote. Do you love singing in the shower? Are you shy about singing around others?

Guess who loves your singing voice – no matter how good or bad you think you sound? Your child! Go ahead and see how their face lights up when you sing to them or with them. It is an experience you will not regret. Everyone has a few songs they remember from their childhood. Do you have a favourite that your mom or dad sang to you? Sing it to your child and see what happens. I bet they will ask you to keep singing.

When I was young, I used to fall asleep listening to my Dad playing the piano and singing. Such wonderful memories! I loved to hear his music. A few weeks ago I went “home” for my Dad’s 90th birthday celebration. While I was there, I recorded him singing and playing his guitar. He shares his music with others, and it makes us all so happy.

Would you like to learn some songs to sing to your little one? Kindermusik classes have age-appropriate music and activities that you can share in class and at home for years to come. Come find your singing voice!

“The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there expect those that sang best.”

I sing three songs each to both my children each night, it really helps to calm them down and settle them for sweet dreams. I make up songs with my son and my daughter’s favorite right now is Firework 🙂

Loved the photo of your father playing the guitar and the quote “The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there expect those that sang best.” Attrib. Henry van Dyke. I don’t sing but did to my children, I reckon they went to sleep out of protest!
