Replacing Cleaning Products with Essential Oils

While we all love a clean and fresh smelling home, the store bought cleaning products we use are generally filled with chemicals and possibly harmful to our health. When you want to clean your home naturally, you can create essential oil cleaning products that do everything from removing grease to disinfecting and leaving behind a clean scent. Here are some tips on replacing cleaning products with essential oils!

Take a look at just some of the ways you can make this work for you in your own home. This is great for people striving to go chemical-free in their homes!

Don’t Bleach Your Bathroom

Rather than using harsh bleach cleaners in the bathroom, you can use Tea Tree Oil, Oregano, and Eucalyptus to clean the tub, shower, toilet, and sink thoroughly killing germs and bacteria.

Freshen Your Mattress

Mattresses are known to harbour foul odours, mustiness, and germs. Make an essential oil mattress spray that includes Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Siberian Fir and Lavender, and water. Spray all over your mattress and allow it to air dry.

Kitchen Cleaning

The kitchen is a room that often has many food odours, grease, and, of course, the drain disposal. An all purpose kitchen cleaning spray including citrus oils, black pepper oil, and peppermint oil can be used to clean and freshen everything from the dishwasher to the sink drain, and even clean the floor!

Carpet Freshening

Much like the mattress spray, there are a few oils you can use to spray your carpet, pet bedding, and furniture to kill germs and leave a fresh clean scent. Lavender, citrus oils, and Tea Tree Oil are a wonderful combination. Be sure to test in an inconspicuous area to avoid staining.

Skip the chemical cleaners from the store and whip up your own natural essential oil cleaning products; you’ll be glad you did!
