If there is something I know a lot about it’s classified advertising. I started my advertising career working in the call centre of a classified newspaper. I still remember the days of a dozen or more calls sitting in a queue waiting to have an ad placed for furniture for sale, apartment for rent or job wanted. Those days have since been replaced with online classified advertising. Craig’s List, one of the first large mainstream classified websites, paved the way for similar sites such as Kijiji, and while these websites are great, they sometimes lack the local feel and organization reminiscent of your old local newspaper classified section.
I have tried using Kijij to sell some of my daughter’s gently used baby toys and furniture, but find the site cluttered and disorganized. With so many categories, I often get confused as to where the best place to post a specific item would be and you’re not technically allowed to post the same item twice. Well, there is a new online classified website in town: Postedad.ca and it has a great kids and babies section (check it out by clicking here)! Postedad.ca is simple, clean, user-friendly and absolutely free!
The categories on Postedad.ca are clearly listed on the main page of the website, and if it is kids and babies gear that you are looking to buy or sell, the sub-categories are also clearly labelled and there isn’t an overabundance of categories, which means you can easily find what you are looking for without having to go back and forth between confusingly-similar categories.
I also like that there isn’t confusing “upselling” on the “post an ad” page. It’s as simple as entering your ad title, text, price (which you can leave blank), location and uploading images – you’re allowed multiple images at NO charge!
Postedad.ca also offers reward points that once earned can be used to promote or highlight your ad absolutely free. Users can earn these points just by signing up for an account, posting an approved ad and for each logged-in visit to the website. If you are like me and have a lot of items that need to find a new home, then it won’t take long to accumulate points!
And the best part is you don’t even have to post an ad to earn points! Another way to earn points is by referring friends to Postedad.ca. Once you have created an account, visit the “My Coupon” section of your “My Postedads-Points” section and you will find a shareable coupon code. For every person referred (who signs up and activated their account) you both receive 10 points. You can invite friends via email, or share on Facebook or Twitter.
I should mention that you don’t need very many points to start using them. To highlight your ad is only five points, and to make your ad a premium ad only requires 20 points, and there are no restrictions on the number of times you can use the points. For more details about this unique points program, sign up for an account by clicking here.
I also like that I can create alerts on Postedad.ca. My daughter has wanted a bike for awhile now, so I may create an alert that will notify me when new bike ads are placed. Saves me the time of checking the website every day!
So, the next time you find yourself looking to place an online classified ad, I encourage you to check out Postedad.ca. It is simple and easy to use, and they don’t try to sell you upsells – instead they want to help you get your ad noticed by offering you rewards for placing ads! How great is that!
*Please note: I received compensation for writing this post. The opinions are completely my own based on my personal user experience.*
The alert feature would be very handy!
Sounds like a great alternative to Kijiji, it is so cluttered!
With the tons of stuff we have to sell it is nice to find an alternative to places like Kijii. Thanks for sharing this!
What a great ad site. I love that its decluttered, provides multiple pictures for no charge and simple to use. The reward program is gravy .
I had never heard of this site. It seems really great. I love sites with reward programs as well.
I haven’t heard of this site but it sounds really great and easy to use! I love knowing that there’s somewhere else to advertise, aside from the one I normally use.
I like this new site! It makes selling ypur children’s items easier!
The reward program is interesting, seems like it would definitely help keep out some of the spam. So far my local page only has a couple of ads, though.
Wow! Never heard of this site until now. It looks great. I love simplicity and, from what you say, Postedad is all about simplicity. I like the option of multiple free photos…photos are what catch people’s attention. Thanks for the info, Tracy!
Hey, thanks for letting me know! I’m always selling things on kijii and usedottawa … now I have an extra option 🙂
This is the first time that I have heard about this site and it sounds great. I like the alert service.
This is new to me! Sounds like the perfect alternative to kijiji ( I also find it very disorganized and frustrating at times).
and the points system is an awesome bonus!
It’s always good to have another option for buying and selling goods!
I like the sound of the alert feature, thanks for the information I will have to check this out.
