Playtime Program at the Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC) – Review

| May 2, 2013 | 2 Comments

This weekend I had the opportunity to once again re-connect with the Arts.  I feel like it had been years since I had been out to see a  play and in fact, it has.  I remember a time long before I had children where I could just pop out and have a coffee and grab a play with friends. You can imagine my surprise when I found out there was a Playtime Program that had been set up by the Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC)

When we arrived at the theatre we were directed to go upstairs to a large stage room.  In it we met Ms Create;  the  upbeat and friendly instructor of  Kids Create  who was setting up tables and chairs and getting everything ready for an exciting crafting experience for the children.   After speaking with Ms Create we gave a little wave good bye to the kids and went downstairs to enjoy the play.  The kids were already entertained with toy cars and glittery stickers.

It was so nice to be able to bring my kids with me.  I didn’t have to worry about calling in a family favor or worry about a last minute babysitting cancellation ruining my plans.  Best of all the kids were doing something FUN  while I was doing something FUN!

When we got back to the van I asked my daughter what she thought of the program.

After a bit more of an elaboration I found out that she enjoyed herself with not just crafts.  Ms Create had set up a bean bag toss game,  there were dress up clothes and a castle.  The kids sang songs, created with play doh and played games as well.

The Playtime Program is offered for select Sunday matinee shows.  Space is limited and the theatre requests that you call ahead of time to reserve a spot and for any additional information.
