May Long Weekend – The Unofficial Start of Summer
After a winter that seems to never end, I am looking forward to warm spring days in May. For many Canadians, May is the unofficial start of summer and Victoria Day is the first long weekend in a set of many that the summer months bring. It also means one month to go before our kids finish the school year! In the meantime, I like to take advantage of the Victoria Day weekend to explore the outdoors and get some fresh air!
Often, the May long weekend is left for tedious household tasks. This year instead of prepping the gardens, opening up the cottage or doing your annual spring cleaning, try doing something new and start the summer off right! Have your kids turn off the T.V., shut off your computer, and head outside to enjoy your natural surroundings.
Readers Digest has put together an amazing list of the best hiking in Canada. While many of these trails are better suited to adults, Canada is also home to some amazing family friendly hiking spots. The Gold Creek Falls trail in Vancouver, B.C. or Webster Falls trail in Hamilton, Ont., are both great examples of outdoor trails that you can tackle with your kids. Be sure to pack a lot of snacks, bottles of water, and sunscreen to keep everyone happy and energized throughout the day.
If you are not comfortable with the winding car rides, like my son, that often occur when escaping the city, I suggest taking some Gravol™ before you leave and bringing some on your trip. Gravol™ Ginger Liquid Gels are easy to swallow, non-drowsy and will help prevent any motion sickness on long car rides – ensuring you are ready to explore!
I don’t exercise as much as I should during the winter months and definitely pay for it when I start being more active again. Don’t be put off by the aches and pains that may accompany your lifestyle or workout. It is only natural to be a bit sore after hibernating all winter. Rub A535™ Extra Strength can be applied to help ease those aches and pains. It really works well to relax those stiff muscles.
The unofficial start of summer also means short season is upon us, which can be a bit daunting after bundling up in heavy sweaters and thick pants for six months. I use Nair™ Wax READY-STRIPS before I put on that first pair of shorts. These easy and ready to use strips are simple and convenient: just place and peel! Most importantly they will leave your legs looking smooth and summer ready!
What are you and your family planning on doing for the May long weekend?

I have never used Nair Wax Strips but I should, especially after long winters because my legs are soft to touch, nice & furry!! Lol it actually kinda embarrassing how bad I let it get!!
You are not alone Leslie lol!
Some great products. We are spending the long weekend camping 🙂 Here’s hoping for great weather.
I have nothing special planned apart from taking it easy and relaxing, hopefully my son doesn’t need driving anywhere. He does have his license but no car and mine is only insured for me and I’d like to keep it like that if possible otherwise my car will always be gone!
This weekend we’re redecorating the bathroom. No getaways this year.
I have nothing special planned but I am hoping to see my newest little grandson
this weekend. He is 20 months old and so adorable. He is at a stage where he can walk but babbles in his own language.I really miss him because he lives about 3 hours away and I don’t get there often. My fingers are crossed they come for a visit. 🙂
We didn’t do much outside this weekend as it rained a lot, but we really needed the moisture so we didn’t mind. Each of the kids had a sleep over and we spent some time switching my son’s room with the guest room. We discovered some old pictures in there we had forgotten about, so that was fun.
We spent the long weekend away for an anniversary getaway, WITHOUT the kids so that was pretty awesome and a great way to kick off summer!
These are all great products to have on hand, I haven’t tried the Nair wax strips yet though!
It’s only April right now but I can’t wait for summer. Having A535 and Gravol on hand is a necessary part of summer because you never know what kinds of problems can arise with having a really fun summer and Nair is great for keeping my legs hair free
