Matt Dusk released his new album, My Funny Valentine, The Chet Baker Songbook on February 12th,2013. Recorded with an eighty piece orchestra, vocalist Matt Dusk, GRAMMY award-winner Arturo Sandoval, and JUNO award-winners Emilie-Claire Barlow and Guido Basso, pay homage to one of the most popular musicians of the twentieth century, Chet Baker.

It’s the kind of music that I would have softly playing in the background while relaxing with a book, enjoying a bubbly bath, or perhaps while creating a romantic meal.

His suave and classic style along with his silken vocals and charming looks enhance the old soul feel of Matt Dusk’s sound. Full of passion and charisma, 34-year-old Toronto crooner, Matt Dusk recently released his 5th album, “My Funny Valentine: The Chet Baker Songbook”.

I find it more challenging to write about musicians when I have never met them or seen them perform live. The energy of a live stage performance is far more luring and likely to win me over as a fan.

It is endearing to read articles about Dusk’s growing love affair with old jazz records his parents exposed him to. He has said that the he is particularly fond of the style of the 60’s. He also likes to visit antique stores to find unique items to match his personality. Dusk reportedly has a poster of the “Rat Pack” on his wall, for inspiration. It all helps him find his voice and it is definitely worth hearing.

I’m adding a Matt Dusk performance to my concert Bucket List. In the meantime, it’s easy enough to pick up Matt Dusk’s “My Funny Valentine: The Chet Baker Songbook”.
