March 30th is National Doctor’s Day!

Hey everyone!  Guess what I just learned?  March 30th is National Doctor’s Day!

I didn’t even know such a thing existed but what a great idea!  A day to celebrate those wonderful doctors that help diagnose, refer, heal and treat us!

Happy Doctor's Day!I looked this holiday up online and here’s what I found…

  • The first Doctor’s Day observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia.  Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians.
  • This first observance included the mailing of greeting cards and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors.
  • The red carnation is commonly used as the symbolic flower for National Doctor’s Day.
  • On October 30, 1990, March 30th was legalized as “National Doctor’s Day.”

Very interesting!

We have several doctor’s to thank in my  house!  Our family has 2 General Practitioners, one Allergist and one Respirologist to thank!  Not to mention all the great doctors we’ve come across on our many trips to CHEO!  Some of them are simply great for the little things you need and some of them are like miracle workers with the advanced technologies and medications they can prescribe to better one’s quality of  life.

I think that this March 30th, we should all take a moment to thank those doctor’s that are in our lives, making a difference for the better, don’t you?
