Long Distance Loving with Google+

| July 15, 2014 | 8 Comments

On Tuesday evenings, I read a story to my glamchildren.  Some of my glamchildren are in Kingston and there is one in Calgary( he’s meeting us in hangouts but not yet ready for the apps).  I am in Ottawa.  Through the magic of Google+ we all get together in a Hangout and pick a story for me to read.  The kids can draw me pictures, and snap photos of us wearing funny hats and other silly bits we have added from the Google effects App.

I am not always thrilled by how I look, when the kids get mommy to post the strange Glamma shots!.  I still love getting to hangout.

Story before bed app in Hangout Did you know that the Google+ app Stories Before Bed has the books so that the kids can  see them as you read?  The list of books includes age ranges and length of story.  How  perfect is that?

INSTRUCTIONS for adding the ‘Story before Bed’ and the Google effects apps in hangouts.

When you open your hangout window, once the video chat starts, you will see some icons on the left. At the bottom of those you see, there are 3 horizontal dots ( means more) click to see more apps you can add to your hangout.  Story Before Bed is there and Google effects is there too. Enjoy!

Of course you can use Hangouts for business meetings and G+ has terrific apps for collaboration like Google Docs.  I use that stuff too.  It is laughing and blowing kisses to my glamkids  every week that fills my heart with joy.

NOTE: GlammasClub is for ladies who intend to Bling it up to Infinity and Beyond!

Thanks for the great read, the internet sure makes us seem closer when we are so far apart

    • Thanks for the encouraging words Kathy. I have seen Chris Hadfield become a sensation in hangouts from the space station. I got to be there when the Dalai Lama attended his old friend Bishop Desmond Tutu’s 80th party, where he lauded the women who had won the Nobel Peace prizes that year.

I have seen the joy on the face of a father with his minutes old newborn.. all through Google hangouts.

Being able to be known to the glamkids, even when they are thousands of miles away is the best of the best!

I would love to use A Story B4 Bedtime Google + Hangouts but I can’t get it set up. I have used A Story B4 Bedtime before but was really interested in reading with my grandchildren but I can’t get it set up. Where did you go to get help with setup, or did you just know how to do it?
