There’s a Crest commercial that says “If you’re not whitening, you’re yellowing”. This is basically the stance I have on my skin – if I’m not working against the UV damage and natural aging of my skin, I’m helping it along. For that reason, I’ve been using “anti-aging” and “wrinkle” creams for quite some time. Do they *really* work? I dunno. But I’m not taking chances! I was thrilled to receive Lara Beauty Anti-Aging Solutions for Sensitive Skin because a) anti-aging and b) sensitive skin.
I tore the box open the minute I got it into my flat two weeks ago, and was immediately impressed with the appearance of the products. As a single woman, my skincare products tend to live on my bathroom sink and ugly products and packaging make me sad. The Lara Beauty products have a clean, sophisticated appearance – exactly what I would like to portray myself.
They are scent-free which I really appreciate. I once read that the added scents in beauty products often does more harm than the product can “fix” or treat – and that freaks me out more than a little. The collection includes a cleanser, exfoliating scrub, toner and a moisturizer.
Before I begin, I have to say that I’ve been experiencing the worst breakout I’ve ever had over the last two weeks. I’m not blaming the products, but I also can’t say for sure they’re not throwing off my skin’s groove. A new product *can* do that, especially when you’re completely changing your routine.
I’ve been using the Lara Beauty Conditioning Cleanser nightly since its arrival almost two weeks ago and love how clean my skin feels afterwards. One night, after cleansing, I patted my skin dry and waited about an hour. Typically my skin begins to feel tight after I’ve cleansed, but not so with Lara Beauty cleanser. My sensitive, dry skin survived test number one! I would buy the Cleanser for sure.
The second item was Lara Beauty Polishing Microderm Abrasion. I use this twice a week, as per the recommendation, and really liked it, too! The exfoliating particles are extremely fine, and you can see the brightness in your skin afterwards. I found the scrub to be a bit more abrasive than I might have expected, though I will admit that I probably scrubbed a little too hard the first time out. My skin did feel a bit dry after exfoliating, but that’s typical for me. And a little bit goes a long way, meaning it’s a great value! I would buy the exfoliating scrub for sure, too.
Next up? The Lara Beauty Revitalizing Daily Toner! I usually just use Witch Hazel for a toner when I remember (read: almost never), so this was an experiment for me. I don’t love the spray nozzle, and I can’t say for sure if I loved the toner because I didn’t notice any difference in my skin. I do love that it’s alcohol-free, so it didn’t dry out my skin at all. I probably wouldn’t buy the toner – not because I don’t like it, but because I don’t really use toner.
Finally, the Lara Beauty Anti-Aging Daily Therapy: talk about rich! A little bit really goes a long way. I have super dry skin – my skin is practically flaking off in the winter – but I actually found the cream to border on too rich for the humidity this time of year. Having said that? It’s probably one of the best moisturizers I have ever used. EVER. After applying to my face, I rubbed the excess into my (extremely dry and tired) hands before bed and was pleasantly surprised to have much softer hands and cuticles in the morning. I would buy this moisturizer – but for fall, winter and spring use. I prefer something lighter in the summer.
All in all? I really enjoyed Lara Beauty’s anti-aging solutions. If you’re looking for an affordable solution to sensitive skin, this is your ticket.
Disclosure: I received the Lara Beauty products for the purpose of the review; however all opinions are 100% my own.
