June 14th is National Strawberry Shortcake Day

Did you know that June 14th is National Strawberry Shortcake Day?  Well, it is!

National Strawberry Shortcake Day honors a dessert that’s great for summer!  It’s light, easy to make, and makes use of the delicious seasonal berries.

Imagine sweet, juicy red strawberries, piled high on shortcakes-with the crumbly texture of a biscuit in every bite. And let’s not forget the topping of fresh whipped cream! Are you ready to celebrate National Strawberry Shortcake Day?

Slice strawberries, add a little sugar, place on top of individual shortcakes, and add whipped cream!  This dessert is bound to be loved by all!  I was just talking to my fiance about strawberry shortcake the other night and here I find out that there’s a perfect reason to make it coming up in June.  (like I needed an excuse!)

How is this holiday celebrated?
Easy!  This holiday is celebrated by making this strawberry dessert for all your family!

This multi-layered desert has been around since about 1850 and usually a sure sign that warmer weather is on the way. It’s the perfect blend of buttery and creamy and sweet, and the different textures from each element make for a very satisfying treat.

I can’t wait to celebrate!!

You’re absolutely right, there is nothing like a traditional English shortcake with your strawberries. I am always disappointed when someone tries to pass of sponge cake and such as “shortcake”. My mother made the best strawberry shortcake ever. Want the recipe? Sign up for my newsletter at http://www.preciousbloom.com and I’ll send you the recipe!
