Heal Post-Concussion Syndrome

| January 13, 2015 | 13 Comments

If you and/or your children are active in sports, you know that Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) symptoms may linger for weeks, even months. Conventional medicine has little to offer those suffering from fatigue, memory issues, poor concentration, headaches, lack of coordination, dizziness and other persistent PCS symptoms. The body does have an innate ability to repair, but the healing process may seem to be stalled or take a very long time. If this is the second or third concussion, healing can take even longer.

The consequences of a prolonged recovery are significant. Students may fall behind at school. Adults may not be able to drive or work for a lengthy period. Sufferers of PCS are told to wait, and that healing takes time. But there is an alternative approach that will accelerate the healing!

Five Weeks to a Healthy Brain

Two complementary health care practitioners have partnered to offer an effective, non-invasive, drug-free Concussion Program. For five consecutive weeks, PCS clients will receive a 30 minute neurofeedback session from Christine Peacock and a 60 minute Bowen Therapy session from Madeline McBride, for a total of ten sessions at 30% off the regular price.

Bowen Therapy (Bowenwork®) triggers the body’s self-healing mechanisms. The therapy, practiced by more than 26,000 practitioners worldwide, restores functionality to victims of stroke, traumatic brain injuries and concussion. Bowen Therapy’s gentle moves through clothing send signals through the body’s nervous system to the brain, effecting repair. Madeline McBride, M.A.Sc., is a certified Bowenwork® practitioner.

Neurofeedback trains the brain to “reset” to regular function, improving memory and reducing headaches, sensitivity to noise and other symptoms. Christine Peacock, B.A., Psych, M.HA, is a certified NeurOptimal® practitioner.

Winter is here, and unfortunately some hockey players, skiers and snowboarders will suffer concussions. Madeline and Christine have sons who play (or played) soccer and hockey. They are extremely aware of the seriousness of PCS and of the limited options concerned parents have. That’s why they’ve partnered for this five week program to get sufferers back to school and work faster.

Read testimonials about effectiveness of the therapies and find out more about the Concussion Program at 2beinflow.com or call 613.327.8840. Service aussi disponible en français.

Madeline McBride (2)Madeline McBride offers Bowen Therapy at the Integral Health Clinic on Waverley Street in downtown Ottawa. While Bowenwork is known for relieving chronic pain, Madeline attracts clients with health issues that are not easily resolved by other modalities: bedwetting, fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue, concussions, infertility & hormone balancing, and stress-induced autoimmune symptoms.

But Bowenwork is useful for many other health concerns! Did you make a New Year’s resolution to quit smoking? Bowenwork triggers release of carbon monoxide and toxins from tissues.

thanks for this! It is so scary! I had a concussion from a car accident and having a concussion is the worst. I suffered major headaches for a period of time.

    • Madeline McBride says:

Maggie, concussion is one of those conditions that can have many debilitating symptoms, including headaches. Car accidents and falls can also damage your muscles, leading to misalignment and chronic pain. Luckily there is finally a treatment combo that works for body and mind!

Note that if people can’t drive due to concussion/injury, there are Bowenwork Practitioners in the east end, west end, south of Ottawa and Gatineau. Contact me and I will refer you to a certified practitioner who will do a home visit or is located near your home. 🙂 Not all local practitioners are listed on the http://www.bowtech.com website.

Fantastic news that something has been found to help PCS. I suffered for months from dizziness after falling down a flight of concrete stairs in Australia last year. Nothing could be done, luckily a friend who’d had middle ear problems could give me a few tips she herself had been given and that did help a lot.

    • Madeline McBride says:

Bowen Therapy originated in Australia. There are literally hundreds of Bowenwork practitioners in Australia! Too bad the medical profession didn’t refer you after your fall, because it would have saved you months of dizziness. 🙁
