Get into Summer with DK Canada Books

School’s out! Is the family looking a bit bored already? Need some great activities to make this the best summer EVER? DK Canada asked me to review some of their amazing books to help every member of the family get into summer!

From the vast number of books DK Canada has available, these are the books I chose to review:

Smithsonian Maker Lab

Fun and learning is at your fingertips with Smithsonian Maker Lab! This book contains 28 fun and fascinating activities kids can do around their home, entertaining and educating them all summer long! There are four areas this book helps kids learn and explore sun science activities: Food for Thought, Around the House, Water World, and The Great Outdoors.

One of our activities to do was Invisible Ink. It was fun to put this together and then to make fun pictures and messages that can only be read when activated. The kids and I loved watching the message appear before our eyes.

Eat Your Greens, Reds, Yellows, Oranges and Purples

All of these activities can rustle up an appetite! Eat Your Greens, Reds, Yellows, Oranges and Purples can help to satisfy rumbling tummies in a yummy and healthy way.

All of the recipes are meatless and designed for kids to understand and try with their parents. Each colour has options from breakfast through dessert for kids and their families to try and enjoy. This book shares some great lighter meal suggestions and some delicious desserts to try!

Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine, 2nd Edition

Keeping your family healthy is the aim of any parent. My other half and I like staying as natural as possible to stay healthy and to cure ourselves should we suffer some form of ailment. The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine, 2nd Edition gives great information and advice on how to maintain your health and to heal yourself, inside and out.

History buffs will love that this book also shares the history of different medicinal herbal practices from all over the world. I loved that this book teaches readers how to grow and use these medicinal herbs so we could use them when needed.

My family loved the titles we received from DK Canada to help us enjoy our summer this year! They gave us projects to educate and amaze us, new dishes for us to try, and tips to keep us healthy. There was so much we were able to learn and do with these books. I am so happy to have had the chance to read and pick up information from these fabulous titles!
