4 Wishes

A child’s wish has a unique magic to it—it has the power to bring joy, lend strength and provide hope and healing for the future for both the wish child and his family. Wish-granting organizations like Make-A-Wish© have known about this super power for many years now and it’s why they continue to carry out their mission to fulfill the dreams of children facing life-threatening medical conditions all over the world.

Now, for the first-time ever, Ottawa children will have the chance to experience some of the magic and wonder that a wish child experiences when his or her wish is being realized. Four Wishes, an event in support of Make-A-Wish© Eastern Ontario and their new Tysen’s Mission to a Million campaign, is a unique children’s fundraiser that will take place at FunHaven on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Drawing inspiration from some of the most popular children’s wishes (I wish to be…, I wish to meet…, I wish to have… and I wish to go…), Four Wishes will provide guests (ages 2 to 17) with the opportunity to meet-and-greet their favourite superheroes, Star Wars and princess characters, as well as meet real-life heroes and local mascots, celebrities and sports figures from the Ottawa Senators, Ottawa Fury and Ottawa RedBlacks. There will also be special live presentations and demonstrations throughout the day, so kids can ask questions, learn techniques and share hugs with their new friends.

Guests can then check out all of the cool arcade games and FunHaven entertainment (bumper cars, rock wall climbing, bowling lanes, and play centre) with their unlimited play passes. To top it off, kids can participate in an indoor beach party with a DJ, games, photo booth and live musical performances. Throw in swag bags for every child, delicious pizza, cotton candy and other snacks for all guests, a yummy candy bar, and the chance to win awesome door prizes, including a family trip to Walt Disney World, and you have pretty much the must-have children’s event of this year!

So, if your child has ever dreamed of becoming a firefighter, learning how to shred a guitar like a rock star, meeting their favourite hockey players, taking tea with a princess or chasing Storm Troopers in laser tag, then this is the event for you! Luckily, there are still some tickets available to this exclusive event and can be purchased at www.missiontoamillion.ca. For $50, guests receive one child’s ticket and two adult tickets, which entitle everyone to admission to the event, lunch and snacks, and use of all of the entertainment facilities.

All proceeds from Four Wishes will be allocated to Tysen’s Mission to a Million. Tysen is a former wish child who received his wish in 2012 to meet comedian Adam Sandler. Since then, Tysen has had one inspirational goal in mind—to pay it forward in a big way! His mission is to get local kids to join his ‘team’ to help him raise a total of $1 million for Make-A-Wish© Eastern Ontario so that they can continue to grant more wishes to children in our community.

It’s a big goal, but thanks to the generosity and hard work of sponsors, neighbours, friends, family and teammates throughout the city, we know he can do it! With $60,000 raised so far—he’s already well on his way.
