Everley No!

| March 4, 2013 | 4 Comments

This is the common refrain in my household these days. Somehow my sweet quiet baby has turned into a crawling machine. She is into everything! As I write this she is trying to pull the power cord out of my laptop. Her curiosity has her pulling everything off the coffee table, including the remote, phone, any food, drinks, whatever she can reach. We have taken to hoarding our valuables in the middle of the table just out of her reach. She then bangs her hands in frustration, willing us to move the items closer. I can no longer load the dishwasher without her trying to climb in and inspect the dishes. She tries to climb every chair she can and leans on rotating furniture for support. This has led to a few bumps and bruises. I have started to get used to her occasional falls and I don’t feel like a bad mom anymore. I know that I can’t prevent every bump and bruise she will get, although I sure do try. Our house has become what I never pictured before, a baby proofed, gated, foam-cornered giant playpen, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

All of this mischief is a sign that she is growing up and learning new things, which is so exciting. I feel so much pride when I see her trying to figure out the world around her. I can only hope that my husband and I can help her see how fun and exciting her world can be!

Oops, gotta go, she’s pulling plugs out of the wall again!

By: Deanne is a brand new mom to a 4 month old beautiful girl, Everley. As a graduate of Carleton’s mass communications program, she loves to document her many adventures in the hopes of sharing her struggles and joys with other moms.  She is the first in her group of friends to have a baby, so she is learning as she goes and is having a blast. When not changing diapers, she loves to spend family time with her husband Chris, their baby girl, and of course their furry baby, dog Ruby.
