Creativity. We all have it in us in one way or another. Sometimes, all it takes to ignite our creativity is to find in within the pages of a book. DK Canada is a great place to start your search for a book to get your creative juices flowing. They asked me if I could find some books that allow me to have creativity at hand. I was excited to see how to enhance my creativity!

Creativity is At Hand with DK Canada

Below are the three titles I received:

Creativity At Hand with DK Canada
Fashion, Photography, and Graphic Design for Everyone book covers on a table.

A passion for fashion

Ever since I was little, I have loved fashion. The lines. The designs. The material. All of the creativity this industry holds helps to influence my wardrobe choices. It is also fascinating to see how far fashion has come.

Fashion takes readers through the history of costume and dress from Ancient Egypt to the runways of today. The pages of this book contain both photos and illustrations of stunning pieces that have been worn by people throughout the ages.

There were so many interesting fashion eras to learn about. I was so surprised to see how much they focused on men’s fashion as well as those worn by women.

My favourite part of this book was this Dance Dress. The 20’s was an amazing period for fashion, and I have had a few dresses of my own created in this style. The detail this title goes into to about this dress is fabulous. I loved learning about the material and the influence of the Art Deco movement used to craft this piece of art.

Creating creatively

Blogging has opened my eyes to the whole of design. It is a creative field that can work in so many different industries. Ever since I started blogging, I caught the design bug and want to improve on it.

Graphic Design for Everyone is a beginner’s guide to graphic design. It helps people from different industries to be creative and to promote themselves online and in print. From creating a brand plan to using colour theory to enhance the look of your designs, this book is the place to turn for help and inspiration!

There is so much someone new to graphic design can learn from this title. The details were easy to follow, and the images helped to bring the information to life.

I especially like the “Composition” section of this book. It shares with readers what they should be looking to do when using imaging for social media designs. It is simple little things and how they are placed that can make a design effective, and this book explains how to do it for yourself.

Creativity through the lens

Photography. Out of all of my passions, this one had to be my favourite. Being able to express my creativity through what I capture through the lens of my camera is magic.

Photography shares with readers the art, history, and culture behind this world. This book also acts as a guide to taking better photos.

Where do I start with this book?! There are so many captivating details Photography help within its pages. Reading about how far photography has come from its birth was informative. The tips I found were great ones to to use to take better photos.

One section of this book I really enjoyed reading is “Commanding the medium.” This section shares with readers about the excitement photographers had when they were able to capture their images in colour, being able to travel easier due to improvement of their equipment, and by the advancement of capturing small fractions of a second. It was a “wow” moment for me to see just howler photography has come!

Creativity is close at hand

I am so happy to have received these three books from DK Canada! Each of them makes it easy to keep creativity close at hand. Fashion shares the creative history if this industry. Graphic Design for Everyone shares tips I can use when making my designs. Photography takes me through the history of this field and helps to improve my eye through the lens. Each book is beautiful and add to my creativity in many ways. They all bring a lot of joy to my life!
