Celebrate World Doula Week March 22-28

| March 24, 2014 | 6 Comments

Ottawa is a great city to have a baby. We have respected obstetricians and talented midwives, a number of hospitals, and now a birth centre. A great addition to your birth team is a doula. Doulas are professional labour support and have been proven to reduce the need for pain medication and lower the chances for cesarean delivery. Postpartum doulas nurture the new mother and her family.

A number of local doulas have gotten together to host a Meet The Doulas night to celebrate World Doula Week March 22-28. This event is free and will take place Friday, March 28 from 6:30-8pm at the Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre. Come out and learn what doulas do and whether one would benefit you, chat about birth, and have a chance to win some really awesome door prizes.

About the Author ()

Kamerine has been blogging for 10 years, the past four and a half as a mom. She has a 4.5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter who was born at home with only her husband there to help. Completely transformed by that experience Kamerine is now working as a birth doula. She will be writing about her experiences parenting two young children, books her and her children love, and things to do in the city.
