Spring is all about being creative and trying new things. Whether it is with a device or with your hands, there are so many ways to create and make something and have doing it. DK Canada knows that Canadians have a creative spirit and would love to help them in their maker spirit this spring! They asked my family if we would like to check out three books that would get us to become makers this spring. We were more than happy to read them!
Below are the three books we received to start our maker spring fun:
My younger daughter has a passion for fashion. She is not afraid to mix palates and patterns when she puts together an outfit. She has such a creative flare in this field, and she is always trying to up her game to be on point with different range of looks and styles.
How To Be A Fashion Designer is a book to help little fashionistas to discover how to find their own path through the fashion world. Practical tips, illustrations and photos give inspiration to create new looks and to take different looks to a new level.
There were so many ideas for my daughter to take inspiration form in order to become a maker in the world of fashion. We loved learning how to put together a mood board to gain style inspiration. The tips for different style ideas were fabulous to help her think of how to add more flare to her outfits. We really loved the “Do it yourself sections” of this book. They help young designers to become a maker and design fun new looks to sport and love!
Take One: ACTION!
All of my kids LOVE the lime light! They are ready to perform whenever they hear the word “Action!” My younger children also want to become video makers so they can share what they love doing with the world. They love seeing other kids and what to make their mark.
Video Ideas helps young video makers create videos of all kinds with different devices. Budding screen stars are shown the video-making process from screen to screen to create fun projects at home and beyond.
The “Take a video-making journey” was really helpful. My kids saw how to go about putting together a video, from brainstorming to uploading their video creation. Learning about the different shots they can take opened their eyes to new ideas for the videos they want to create. Adding extras, such as graphics and sounds, fired up my kids to want to become more create to make fun videos kids of all ages would want to watch again and again.
Have material, will create!
One of my goals for 2018 is to take a more hands-on approach to my home and life. Buying pieces to pull a space in my home or an outfit together is great fix. There are times that a personal touch is more fun and stylish.
Supercraft helps makers throughout the year with 52 creative craft ideas that can be put together during a weekend. Makers can choose form DIY crafts and sewing projects that use everyday materials and innovative techniques to upcycle your home or wardrobe.
There were so many projects I found inspiration from to plan projects around my home. I can’t wait to try crating a personalized mug for sipping on my favourite warm drinks. Creating a Furoshiki Bag from scratch is on my list of summer projects to try. I am most excited to sit down with my kids to create fairy lights to personalize their beds and my work space at home.
There are so many fun and exciting ways for my family to become makers this spring with help from these books form DK Canada! They provide so many amazing ideas to be creative in many different areas of our lives. They also allow for us to try new things to try our hand at to improve the skills we already have and to expand our interests. These titles will be well used this season!
