I am an active mother of two fabulous kids that make me smile every
day. I love to cook old favourites and try out new recipes and never let my kids’ nut and egg allergy get in the way! I am forever dragging my husband all over town to try out the latest and greatest new spots to eat but for the most part I think he’s a willing participant. I would call myself a Foodie but then you would think I was pretentious, so I won't go there.

I am an avid reader, pretty much anything I can get my hands on, anytime I can squeeze it in. (Yes that was me you saw reading while I was running on the treadmill at the gym). I love to write and share all my great finds whenever I can!
Let’s eat!

Cooking with the Kids

Every summer, I let my kids take over the cooking, one meal a week each. Once a week, I give them a stack of recipe books and tell them to pick anything that appeals to them. Then they write out the ingredient lists and I go shopping. Then on cooking night, I am there to […]

Summer Salads Part 3 – Summer Vegetable Salad Recipe

While at the Carp Market I picked up a big bunch of fresh vegetables.  I just bought whatever looked freshest, and added it to my basket.  Here is a sample of what I picked up: I wanted to make a salad with as much of the produce as possible, as I thought all mixed together […]

Eating For Runners

I am a runner.  It has taken me a long time to really say that and mean it.  I used to duck around the label and dream of when I would actually confidently use it to refer to myself.  Well, it has taken 8+ years of steady running, countless 10k races and 6 half marathons…but […]

Growing Out Of An Allergy

We had some pretty big news in our family over the last few months. My twelve year old son grew out of his egg allergy! Here is how it all went down.  I took the kids in for the bi-annual allergy testing, but this time we saw a new doctor as our old doctor had […]

Passover Food Ideas

My favourite Jewish holiday of the year is Passover.  We celebrate with a big family dinner (called a seder) where we retell the story of Passover and eat a lot of very yummy symbolic food.  What exactly you eat during the seder depends on where your ancestors are from.  We eat a lot of yummy […]

I was pretty excited when I heard I was going to be doing a review for the magazine Be Your Own You – BYOU.  When my daughter was in her early tweens I searched high and low for good magazines to interest her.  I wanted her to read something that had all the flash […]

Chanukah and the Original Timbit

In our house we don’t celebrate Christmas, instead we celebrate Chanukah. This is the Jewish festival of light, and is a beautiful holiday. We have many traditions such as saying a prayer and lighting a candle every night, culminating in all eight candles being lit on the last night. We also exchange gifts, and eat […]

Halloween with Food Allergies and Fun Recipes!

Halloween is a magical time of year, where everyone gets to be a kid, dress up in fun costumes, decorate the front porch with ghouls, witches and goblins, and best of all gorge on large amounts of candy and chocolate.  Growing up, my mother used to come home early on Halloween and we always made […]

Tips for Travelling with Kids with Food Allergies

I just got back from an amazing family road trip.  We flew to Alberta and then drove from Medicine Hat to Vancouver Island and back.  It was just a phenomenal trip.  The scenery and experiences were truly spectacular and we all had SUCH a great time.  What wasn’t always easy was figuring out how to […]

10 Pounds Lighter

In the last three months I have lost 10 pounds!  Pretty exciting stuff! Even more exciting when I tell you that I didn’t diet or do anything too hard or drastic.  I am not someone who believes in dieting at all or crazy food fads.  I didn’t even know I wanted to lose any weight, to be […]
