A Holiday Stacking Toy That Looks Good Enough to Eat! #Review and #Giveaway #HolidayGiftGuide ~ CAN 12/15

2 Blue Ducks is a Canadian owned distributor of high quality, eco-friendly kid’s products. They recently provided me with a toy, the Gingerbread Stackeroo, and a mealtime set to review.

The Gingerbread Stackeroo looks good enough to eat! Its holiday theme means it will look good under the tree this Christmas -- wrapped or unwaapped!

The Gingerbread Stackeroo looks good enough to eat! Its holiday theme means it will look good under the tree this Christmas — wrapped or unwrapped!

The first thing I noticed about the Gingerbread Stackeroo when I took it out of the box was the weight.  It is made out of solid wood. It is a little heavy for my 8 month old baby to play with but my six year old enjoyed it.  This explains the 18 month plus age recommendation by the manufacturer Discoveroo.

The Gingerbread Stackeroo has several holes in the rings, unlike a traditional stacking toy, allowing them to be stacked in a variety of ways.  I have to admit that this sparked my interest and I spent some time arranging and rearranging the rings myself.

I would definitely rate this as a high quality toy at a reasonable price. Price at $19.99, it is only slightly more than your plastic stacking toy, well worth it given it is made of solid wood and is painted with vegetable-based paints.

The second product I received from 2 Blue Ducks to review was a silicone mealtime baby feeding set by ooga. The set includes two spoons and a silicone bowl. The spoons are soft, flexible and fun. One spoon is made to look like a plane, while the other features a train on its handle. The bowl is completely flexible. All items are dishwasher safe and eco-friendly.  The set is designed for babies six months and older.

I personally don’t get much use out of a fork with a small baby so I loved that this set came with two spoons rather than the traditional spoon and fork combination. I am guessing this is partly because of the flexibility of silicone – a spongy fork just wouldn’t work.

This silicone mealtime set by oogaa is both fun and practical. The softness and flexibility of the silicone means the spoon is easy on the baby’s gums and mouth, especially when she decides to dive forward into the spoon when eating. However, I found the plane and train decorations made it awkward to hold the spoons. The spoons were also a little large for my baby’s mouth. I am sure she will grow into them, but for now it is a little hard for her to get her tiny mouth around them.

The squishiness of the bowl made it easy to hold while feeding the baby.  It was a little awkward to carry and does not make the best dish to mix baby cereal in. I am sure I will appreciate the bowl when baby is older and decides to start throwing bowls around when eating. After all, it will bounce a little better than a traditional bowl! Less noisy too!

This product, like the Gingerbread Stackeroo, was high quality. It is also eco-friendly and non-toxic. It is available for $17.99 from 2 Blue Ducks. The set comes in several colour combinations including pink/purple, purple/blue/green,  and green/blue.
