A Christmas Classic: The Body Shop’s White Musk Gift Sets Review and Giveaway ~ CAN 12/31

For as long as I can remember, Christmas and the Body Shop have gone hand in hand. It all started with an aunt of mine who would always send me a jumbo sized bottle of cocoa butter lotion, a product I use to this day. Then in my first year of university, I received a luscious set of banana shampoo and conditioner from my secret Santa. And days before I left to go to Africa, my stocking was stocked with satsuma body scrub. Body Shop products really do make the perfect holiday gifts. There’s something just so lovely about starting off the New Year with a new scent, washing away the old and welcoming in the new.

The Body Shop’s White Musk line has been around almost as long as I have but for some reason I’ve never had a chance to use it. The soft, classic scent is instantly recognizable and is as comforting and familiar as it is timeless. I loved the pretty purple packing on the women’s gift set. The gift set (which also has a charitable component, helping to fund education for children in need) contains White Musk® Eau de Toilette (60 ml), White Musk® Eau de Toilette (10 ml), White Musk® Body Lotion (60 ml), White Musk® Shower Gel (60ml) and a mini notebook. I loved the travel friendly sizes and the fact that there was a mini eau de toilette that would be perfect to toss in to a makeup bag. The sizes would also be great for the gym bag (most New Year’s resolutions contain some healthy goals!) The only product I wasn’t a big fan of was the mini notebook. As a writer (ie one of the last people in the world to actually use notebooks!) I found it more ornamental than functional and would have rather seen the set include a sponge or washcloth.

The kit for the men is organized a bit differently, though it comes with the same charitable component. Packaged in a jaunty metal tin, it contains White Musk® For Men Hair & Body Wash (200 ml), White Musk® For Men Aftershave Balm (75ml), and White Musk® For Men Eau de Toilette (100 ml). The men’s products (tested out on my husband, a willing guinea pig) had a much woodsier, more (dare I say it?) musky scent that was slightly reminiscent of the women’s classic but really had its own distinct scent.

What I love about these products is that they are perfect for stress free gift giving. They are cruelty free, charitably minded products you can feel good about giving. They are beautifully packaged and require nothing more than a gift bag or even just a bow. And they are so universally pleasing that I really think they can be safely given to anyone of any age and always be enjoyed. And with a little luck, maybe Santa will bring you your own set to try!

Lastly, in case feeling good in your skin and smelling like summer isn’t incentive enough, I also love that this holiday season The Body Shop is teaming up with War Child, the global charity for children affected by war.

The purchase of certain gifts – including this one – will provide a class to a child in a war-torn country. One gift = one class. The Body Shop is aiming to provide over 6 million lessons in war-torn areas through this initiative. So buying a gift also gives the gift of education to a child who needs it.
